Love Island viewers cringe after ‘awkward’ moment in Paige Thorne, Jay Younger and Jacques O’Neill love triangle-Meghna Amin-Entertainment – Metro

Love Island viewers were quick to spot an awkward moment between the love triangle that is Jay Younger, Paige Thorne and Jacques O’Neill in Sunday’s episode.

Paige had been getting closer and closer to Jacques over the last few days, but, in the last recoupling, Jay stole her and picked her to couple up with.

However, despite Jay and Paige now sharing a bed, the paramedic’s relationship with Jacques is stronger than ever, with the pair holding hands together as they fell asleep in separate beds, and constantly hugging and kissing each other… including right in front of Jay’s eyes.

Jay, 28, had been open about knowing that he was ‘taking a risk’ in choosing Paige, yet he was willing as she had turned his head away from Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, who he was previously coupled up with.

On tonight’s episode, Paige was going back and forth between getting to know Jay and getting closer with Jacques, and in one moment she had her arms around the pro rugby player and was kissing him… right when Jay walked past.

Awkward!

‘LOL NOT JAY WALKING PAST PAIGE AND JACQUES HUGGING,’ one person wrote, while another shared: ‘The way Jay walks by Paige and Jacques hugging’ with laughing emojis.

A third penned: ‘Not Jacques and Paige talking, cuddling and Jay passing by. Awkward.’

Later in the Beach Hut, Paige reflected: ‘Jay and Jacques, you couldn’t get more opposite guys in here, really,’ admitting that Jay was her ‘type’ on paper.

Last week, Paige broke down in tears after Jay expressed wanting to get to know her.

‘My mind is still on Jacques,’ a teary-eyed Paige had revealed over confusion about whether she wanted to get to know Jay.

Speaking to Tasha, Paige admitted she didn’t want to get to know Jay, and was happy focused on Jacques, despite not expecting him to put all his eggs in her basket just yet.

‘You either have all of my effort or none of it,’ she said.

‘All I was looking for from Jacques was a little bit of reassurance, I just feel really confused at the minute,’ she continued, before Jacques pulled her aside for a comforting chat and cuddle.

The next morning, the villa seemed calmer, as the islanders reflected on the night before – and turned their eyes elsewhere it seemed, as Charlie and Ekin-Su sweat it out at the gym together and Paige hinted that maybe she would be open to getting to know Jay.

‘I’d be stupid to cut myself off so early on,’ she said, admitting Jay was her ‘type to a tee’ when he entered the villa.

Will Paige continue wanting to get to know Jay, or will Jay be turned off by seeing how close Paige and Jacques have become?
