WEDDING outfits can sometimes cost a fortune, but one bride has saved some money by making her own reception dress.

Bride Julia recreated the Galia Lahav Fabiana gown using a SKIMS bodysuit and some sheer fabric purchased on Etsy, saving herself thousands in the process.

Julia shared the dress on her TikTok account, @_boringbb_, where it’s been a huge hit and has received over 714k views.

The Galia Lahav gown costs £5.5k, while the SKIMS bodysuit cost £50, even with the cost of the added fabric being £141.18, Julia was still able to save herself a tonne of money.

In a second video, Julia shares how she created this dress, all without using a sewing machine or any fancy sewing techniques.

“This dress is three pieces,” she begins, “I made two skirts, one bigger puffy one, and one smaller more form fitting to go underneath so it’s not see-through.

I’m a bride – I was trolled for wearing a certain accessory to my wedding

“Then I moved onto the bodysuit. I cut up pieces of lace, and while the bodysuit was stretched out I sewed the pieces of lace on.

“I then cut two bra closures, the back of the bra hooks, and I used that to close the skirt, super easy.”

Julia then wore this dress to her wedding reception, and for the ceremony she wore her grandma’s wedding gown, which had been handed down to her.

Commenters were in awe of Julia’s homemade dress, with many tagging the SKIMS brand and Kim Kardashian to bring it to their attention.

“It’s beautiful!!! Please design my future wedding dress” wrote one fan of the dress.

A second commented: “The boho fairy wedding dress of my dreams.”

“Girl I’m begging you to design my reception dress in like 5 years or something,” added a third.

Julia isn’t the only bride saving a small fortune by creating her own dress for her big day.
