James Argent revealed he feels ‘ready’ to step back into the dating scene after losing weight.

The former Towie star, 34, has noticeably slimmed down over the past year after having gastric sleeve surgery which resulted in him dropping 14 stone, and adopting a strict fitness and healthy eating regime.

During Tuesday’s instalment of Lorraine, the 62-year-old presenter probed the TV personality over his love life after he shared how his physical transformation has affected his confidence.

‘I think I’ve finally come to a point where I truly am confident,’ he said.

‘I know it sounds cliché but they say, you can’t love anyone until you love yourself. And I do genuinely love myself now.’

After James expressed how strong he currently feels ‘physically and mentally’ he explained that now is the time ‘to take care of someone else.’

‘I did meet a woman in Mykonos,’ he said.

‘It wasn’t a holiday romance or anything like that, but we exchanged numbers. She’s not English she lives abroad, but who knows. It’s exciting.’

James, aka Arg, recently celebrated a year since he underwent gastric sleeve surgery.

Taking to Stories, the star shared a photograph of him beaming from a hospital bed, writing: ‘Celebrating my one-year surgery anniversary,’ with a Before tag on the photo.

The next photograph, with an after tag, showed him 13 stone lighter, at the time, looking fit and healthy as he smiled in the sunshine.

James thanked the We Are Transform company for their support in his journey, writing it was the ‘best decision I’ve ever made.’

At his heaviest, he weighed 27 stone, after gaining the weight during the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns.

James’ lifestyle change came following a near-fatal overdose on Christmas Day in 2019, after which he sought help to beat his drug and alcohol issues.

However after being sober for two years, in March 2022 James suffered a relapse which led to paramedics being called to his home.

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
