Laura Prepon has opened up about her decision to have an abortion after the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v Wade last week.
The bombshell decision ended the protection for people to seek legal abortions, meaning that individual states now are able to determine how they will regulate terminations.
Protests erupted across the country, and around the world over the news, with many stars sharing their outrage on social media.
Taking to Instagram, the Orange Is The New Black actress joined those reflecting on their own termination experiences.
The 42-year-old posted a photo as she stood in front of a rainbow, recalling ‘one of the worst days’ of her life.
‘One of the worst days of my life was when I made the choice to terminate a pregnancy in the second trimester,’ she began.
‘The devastating truth is that we found out the fetus would not survive to full term, and that my life was at risk as well.
‘At the time – I had the choice.’
‘Everyone has their own story for seeking out this medical procedure and I empathize with anyone who’s been faced with this impossible decision,’ Laura continued.
‘I am praying for all of us, that we can get through this challenging time and regain agency over our own bodies.’

Laura previously revealed that she became pregnant with husband Ben Foster in 2018, a year after giving birth to their daughter Ella.
They hadn’t publicly revealed their baby news but decided to hold off until they had their 16-week scan.
It was then that the couple were informed that the unborn child had cystic hygroma – which means an abnormal development of the lymphatic vascular system.
‘Our neonatal specialist told us the brain was not growing and the bones were not growing,’ she told People Magazine in 2020.
‘We were told the pregnancy would not go to full term and that my body was at risk carrying any longer.’
‘Ben held me as I cried,’ she added to the publication. ‘We had to terminate the pregnancy.’
In 2019, she learned that she was pregnant again, and the actress welcomed a baby boy the following February – but has yet to share his name.

The US Supreme Court decided to end constitutional protections for abortion, overturning the landmark Roe v Wade decision which ensured those who sought a termination would be able to access healthcare services.
The overturn means that it will be illegal in certain states for women to end their pregnancies.
President Joe Biden has since blasted the ruling as ‘un-American’ as well as ‘wrong, extreme and out of touch’, adding it was a ‘sad day for the court and the country’.

Stars around the world have widely condemned the decision, with Taraji P Henson speaking about the move while hosting the recent BET Awards.
‘It’s about damn time we talk about the fact that guns have more rights than a woman. It’s a sad day in America,’ she told the crowd.
‘A weapon that can take lives has more power than a woman who can give life if she chooses to.’
Singer Pink also implored anti-abortion campaigners who ‘believe the government belongs in a woman’s uterus’ to stop listening to her music.
