Love Island star Shaughna Phillips has revealed herself to be an Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu fangirl and insists the islander isn’t acting amid all the endless drama.
Since arriving as a bombshell in the first week, Ekin-Su, 27, quickly made her presence felt around the villa as she set her sights on Davide Sanclimenti before soon moving onto Jay Younger.
Her antics have included crawling around the terrace with Jay, getting into an almighty row with Davide, stirring trouble with the girls around the villa, breaking up with Jay and now possibly getting back with Davide, all in a few weeks’ work.
One person who is loving the high-drama is Shaughna, who also made her mark as an entertaining islander during her Love Island series in 2020.
Speaking to Miranda Kane in the latest episode of Metro.co.uk’s Smut Drop, Shaughna praised Ekin-Su confessing: ‘I am truly obsessed. Ekin-Su I’m going to demand be made a saint because she is what viewers demand, that’s who we deserve as viewers because she is so fun to watch.’
Some have questioned whether Ekin-Su is completely manufacturing the drama using her skills as a Turkish soap opera actress, but Shaughna is backing her girl.

‘She’s also an actress and I think she knows her role, who she’s been put in there for and she’s not letting us down and I love that for her,’ she said.
‘I don’t think she’s acting per say but I do think she’s able to take herself out of situations and put on a bit of a mask, which you need because it’s not a normal situation or environment.’
Looking back at her time in the villa, Shaughna, 28, feels that she was perhaps a little ‘too uptight’ and wishes she ‘let her hair down more’ but was too aware of her surroundings.
‘I was the oldest person in there for a while when I was in it, I was 25 and I think [Ekin-Su is] 27 at the minute and I definitely feel as though I could probably handle myself a little bit better than some of the younger girls just because you’ve been around the block and know how life works,’ she said.

During the episode, Shaughna talks extensively about her journey with lipoedema, a condition which causes an abnormal build-up of fat in the legs and sometimes arms.
In 2020, the reality star underwent liposuction on her legs to treat the condition after years of comments about her figure.
‘I remember very vividly, I was in a very unhealthy relationship and I was just thinking, the better I look, the better he’ll treat me – it didn’t happen,’ she explained recalling one exchange.
‘I got to nine stone on the scales which was so underweight for my body shape, and I took a picture and sent it to my ex and was like, “Oh my gosh, look”, and he replied saying, “that’s amazing, now you just need to sort your legs out”.
‘I was like, how on Earth? I can’t get any thinner. I physically couldn’t. It’s comments like that but even comments from people that don’t know you, I don’t know why people think they have a right to have an opinion on you. I get we have free speech but you have no right to comment on how I look. Let’s just get that clear.’
Love Island airs nightly at 9pm on ITV.
