Channel 4′s The Undeclared War is set to make Thursday nights a lot more thrilling with the new drama following what would happen if the UK was under cyber threat during a peak political season.

The six-part series, which is set in 2024 in the run-up to a UK general election, follows a team of analysts working to save the country’s electoral system from a cyber attack.

In an exciting cat and mouse game, the GCHQ team must stay a step ahead of their opponents while the clock ticks down.

With high stakes, unknown and even more unpredictable enemies, and keeping the online battle a secret from the public, The Undeclared War promises to be as dramatic as ever, and almost too close to real.

Who is in the cast of The Undeclared War?

The limited-series brings a top cast with it, starting with Mission Impossible star Simon Pegg.

He’s previously starred in The Boys, Truth Seekers, and Star Trek Beyond.

Simon is joined by newcomer Hannah Khalique-Brown, who will play Saara Parvan, the 21-year-old intern that actually discovers the cyber attack.

Her character finds herself in some tricky situations quite suddenly, as she goes from work experience to try and save the country from cyber warfare.

Speaking to Channel 4 about the drama, Bafta award-winning creator Peter Krominsky has said: ‘The Undeclared War has been many years in the making.

‘It imagines how the next few years might play out in the domain of cyber warfare – a battle unseen by the public but with potentially devastating consequences.

‘In my work, I’ve tried to shine a light on aspects of public policy which affect us all but where the details of what is taking place, often behind the scenes, are not well understood.

‘I hope this drama will give audiences an insight into a world certain to impact our lives significantly in the years ahead.’

The Undeclared War premieres on Thursday, June 30, at 9pm on Channel 4 and All 4.
