The Undertaker has thrown his support behind Stephanie McMahon after she took over as interim chairwoman and CEO of WWE.

The legendary superstar – who is close to both Stephanie and her father Vince McMahon – has commented on her appointment, which comes as her dad has stepped back from his roles as chair and CEO amid the board’s ongoing investigation into alleged misconduct.

Earlier this month, the board of directors said in a press release that Vince – who has retained his creative and on-screen roles in the company – has ‘voluntarily stepped back from his responsibilities as CEO and Chairman of the Board until the conclusion of the investigation’.

Now, Undertaker has commented on the situation and suggested Stephanie has all the tools to succeed in her role.

He told Sports Illustrated: ‘Stephanie is incredible, and she’s going to show that in this new role. She is level-headed, she sees the whole picture. Her steady, calm hand is exactly what is needed.

‘There’s not a selfish bone in her body, but she’s all about business. She’s the right person for the job. I have 100% confidence about what Stephanie McMahon will do for the company.’

Stephanie previously voiced her pride in taking on the role, noted she would look to ‘strength’ the company’s culture.

Stephanie said in a statement: ‘I love this company and am committed to working with the Independent Directors to strengthen our culture and our Company; it is extremely important to me that we have a safe and collaborative workplace.

‘I have committed to doing everything in my power to help the Special Committee complete its work, including marshaling the cooperation of the entire company to assist in the completion of the investigation and to implement its findings.’

Stephanie announced last month she was taking a leave of absence to focus on her family, while in March her husband Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque confirmed his in-ring retirement months after he was left fighting for his life following a battle with viral pneumonia and heart failure, which has left him with a defibrillator in his chest.

Stephanie tweeted: ‘As of tomorrow, I am taking a leave of absence from the majority of my responsibilities at WWE.

‘WWE is a lifelong legacy for me and I look forward to returning to the company that I love after taking this time to focus on my family.’
