Liv Morgan made sure WWE Money In The Bank 2022 was her night as she won the briefcase and cashed in to win the SmackDown Women’s Title.

The new champion had a career making few hours, starting the show as part of the women’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match alongside the likes of Becky Lynch, Asuka, Shotzi, Raquel Rodriguez, Alexa Bliss and Lacey Evans.

It was a thoroughly entertaining bout, albeit one with some scary moments as the action got a bit messy at times – but the live crowd were totally gripped throughout, staying loud as the seven stars put their bodies on the line with some brutal spots.

Bliss took an awkward shot to the back while Lynch’s leg drop to Asuka on a ladder suspended between the ring and announce table deserves a mention, as does Shotzi appearing to be busted up towards the end.

The final sequence saw Liv push herself off the ropes on a ladder to knock Lynch away and get back in position to reach the top and unhook the briefcase to the delight of the fans.

Later in the night, Ronda Rousey beat Natalya to keep hold of the SmackDown Women’s Title in the weakest match of the night, which had flashes of fun action but was kept brief and was in a difficult spot.

Not only did it follow The Usos and Street Profits in an instant classic, but there was also a mysterious vignette which had fans buzzing, so they were up against it.

However, the best was yet to come as Liv came down after the bell to cash in her briefcase, and after a scare where Rousey quickly locked in the ankle, Liv got roll up for the huge win.

Theory wins Money In The Bank after losing United States Championship

In the main event, the men’s Money In The Bank delivered the hard hitting action we’ve come to expect from this match, with everyone getting a chance to shine – but the real story here was Theory being added to the match at the last second after losing the United States Title earlier on (more on that below).

There were plenty of highlights including Riddle hitting an RKO on Seth Freakin’ Rollins off a ladder, everyone sending Omos through a table, and rough bumps aplenty.

In the end, Theory picked up the win to boos from the crowd, while the result was telegraphed the moment Adam Pearce added him to the field.

His huge victory came after an early shock earlier in the night, when a bloody Bobby Lashley overpowered the then-United States Champion to capture the gold with the Hurt Lock in a relatively one-sided bout.

Theory held his own as the match went on, but the All Mighty – with the sold out MGM Grand crown in Las Vegas fully behind him – captured the gold in a very convincing way, leaving a big question mark over where Theory goes from here.

Elsewhere, Bianca Belair retained the Raw Women’s Title in a cracking match with Carmella that delivered some fun action en route to a momentum-building defence for the EST of WWE.

Considering the plan was Belair versus Rhea Ripley until the latter’s recent injury, this was a great effort, and Carmella looked strong as she attacked Bianca after the bell to avenge her loss – but there was no Liv Morgan same night cash-in.

The Unified Tag Team Titles were on the line in an absolute instant classic as The Usos overcame the Street Profits in a match that had everyone on the edge of their seats thinking Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins were going to get the job done.

Jimmy and Jey may have picked up the win, but Angelo and Montez were the stars here, seeing their stock rise even in defeat (the latter’s shoulder was off the mat), while the newly bulked up ‘Tez looks more and more like a future world champ every time he steps in the ring.

WWE Money In The Bank is available on demand on the WWE Network.
