Frasier star Kelsey Grammer cried while reading reboot script, teases new episodes: ‘It looks pretty good’-Rishma Dosani-Entertainment – Metro

Kelsey Grammer revealed that he cried while running through the first episode of the upcoming Frasier reboot and we’re desperate to get our hands on it.

The Paramount+ revival was announced last year with the 67-year-old confirming that he would be reprising his role as everyone’s favorite radio psychiatrist.

However, since the initial news, details have been scarce on what we can expect from the series, or which cast members could be coming back.

Speaking in a new interview, Kelsey lifted the lid on preparations so far, suggesting that it will be an emotional reunion.

Appearing on the View, he was asked what the ‘key ingredient’ was to the long-running sitcom.

‘The key ingredient for the Frasier reboot is actually Frasier. It was always called that, it’s me… The key is me. I am the key,’ he laughed, before explaining that ‘conversations’ have been had about possibly beginning filming in October.

‘There are a couple of other things coming up,’ he continued. ‘We’ve developed a couple of other projects that look like they’re going to shoot first.’

‘We’re in the final stages of the final script for the first episode of the Frasier reboot. It looks pretty good.

‘I’ve had a couple of runs through it, and I’ve cried, so you know, I’m happy.’

Frasier, a spin-off of Cheers, first aired in 1993 and was an instant hit with fans and critics alike.

It followed Kelsey’s Frasier as he returned to Seattle to work as a radio psychiatrist, reconnecting with his dad Martin Crane (John Mahoney) and brother Niles (David Hyde Pierce).

The acclaimed series also starred Jane Leeves and Peri Gilpin before it ended in 2004, after 11 seasons.

Following intense speculation, the lead star confirmed the reboot in a statement last February, which read: ‘Having spent over 20 years of my creative life on the Paramount lot, both producing shows and performing in several, I’d like to congratulate Paramount+ on its entry into the streaming world.

‘I gleefully anticipate sharing the next chapter in the continuing journey of Dr Frasier Crane.’

It is not clear whether Kelsey’s co-stars will be returning to the fold but Mahoney – who died in 2018 – will reportedly be honored in the show’s return.
