Mojang has quietly updated Minecraft Java Edition’s loading screen and added a sweet tribute to YouTuber Technoblade following his death.

Last week, renowned Minecraft YouTuber Technoblade sadly died from cancer aged 23. Family, friends, and fans all shared messages and tributes to pay respect, including Minecraft developer Mojang itself.

The studio offered its own condolences over social media, and it has quietly gone one step further and immortalised Technoblade in Minecraft’s own loading screen.

Spotted by players, the loading screen for the Java edition of Minecraft on PC now features a pig wearing a crown.

Anyone familiar with Technoblade will recognise this as a nod to his Minecraft avatar, which he also used for his Twitter and YouTube icons.

Mojang hasn’t issued any comment on the updated loading screen, so it’s unclear whether this is only temporary or if the crowned pig will be a permanent fixture.

We have been trying to find the words, but all of us here at Minecraft are heartbroken over the loss of Technoblade. He meant so much to our community and brought so much joy. He will be missed dearly. 🐷👑🗡️

The studio’s certainly not the only one to have left tributes to Technoblade. You can easily find fan art dedicated to him all over Twitter.

The Hypixel Minecraft server that he was part of has also established a memorial for him; one for players to come visit and sign their name in a book of condolences.

It’ll be available until the end of July, with the plan to have it physically printed and gifted to Technoblade’s family.

Technoblade had always kept his personal life private, with it only recently being revealed that his real name was Alex.

He never shared what type of cancer he had, however he previously raised funds for sarcoma charities and a portion of any sales from his merchandise will be donated to cancer research.

In a farewell letter read by his father, Technoblade told his fans: ‘If I had another hundred lives, I think I would choose to be Technoblade again every single time as those were the happiest years of my life.’
