The Obi-Wan Kenobi show has just finished – and although the merchandise isn’t going to be out for months, you need to start pre-ordering now.
It might have been the most successful Disney+ series so far, but after the first few episodes, fan opinion on the Obi-Wan Kenobi show was very mixed. Then the last episode happened and even the doubters had to admit that that was a really good fight scene.
The show had a lot of other things in its favour, though, including the first live action appearance of the Inquisitors – a group of evil Force users that had previously only been shown in the Rebels animated show.
As you’d expect of anything Star Wars, or indeed Disney, a lot of merchandise was being planned for the show even before it came out, although surprisingly – and perhaps because of supply issues caused by the pandemic – a lot of it isn’t out till next year.
There’s a couple of Lego sets that are out in August, but the new Black Series figures from Hasbro won’t be available in the UK until at least January.
As far off as that is, you’d be well advised to pre-order now if you want them, because not only will it be hard to get them later, they’re certain to shoot up in value if you end up getting some of them from eBay.
Thankfully, both Zavvi and Forbidden Planet have pre-orders up already, plus you’ll probably find your local comic shop or nerd emporium will also be able to get them for you.
Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi – The Black Series Obi-Wan Kenobi (Jabiim)
Unlike the old school 3¾” Star Wars action figures, the Black Series toys are mostly 6” tall and subsequently are much more detailed and have better articulation.
This new Obi-Wan figure is based on his appearance on Jabiim – the planet where the rebels were being besieged in Part IV of the show.
Pre-order Obi-Wan Kenobi (Jabiim) at Zavvi for £25.99
Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi – The Black Series Darth Vader
That’s a nice Vader figure (Picture: Hasbro)
As you can imagine, there have been a ton of Darth Vader figures over the years but this one is specifically based on his appearance in Obi-Wan Kenobi, where Anakin Skywalker actor Hayden Christensen was wearing the suit.
Pre-order Darth Vader at Zavvi for £25.99
Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi – The Black Series Reva (Third Sister)
Reva looks very close to the real actress (Picture: Hasbro)
The most important new character of the show is the only Inquisitor that wasn’t in Rebels, but she’s already become a fan favourite – even if it’s difficult to talk about her in detail here, for fear of spoilers.
Pre-order Reva at Zavvi for £25.99
Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi – Tala (Imperial Officer)
Ellaria Sand makes her Star Wars debut (Picture: Hasbro)
It’s hard to talk about Tala as well, given what happens to her during the show, but she starts off as a disillusioned Imperial officer who becomes a double agent and ends up helping Obi-Wan and Princess Leia.
Pre-order Tala at Zavvi for £25.99
Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi – The Black Series NED-B
NED-B doesn’t need to say anything to become a fan favourite (Picture: Hasbro)
He may not have been able to speak, but the loader droid NED-B is a key ally of Tala and comes to the rescue a number of times in the show, even if at first he’s only armed with a hammer.
Pre-order NED-B at Zavvi for £25.99
Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi – The Black Series Grand Inquisitor
The Grand Inquisitor looks very imposing in action figure form (Picture: Hasbro)
There was some controversy over the fact that the leader of the Inquisitors doesn’t look the same as other of his species from Revenge of the Sith, although if anything he looks better as an action figure than he did in the show.
Pre-order Grand Inquisitor at Zavvi for £25.99
Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi – The Black Series Fourth Sister (Inquisitor)
It’s a shame Fourth Sister wasn’t in the show more (Picture: Hasbro)
The Inquisitors are all former Jedi or low level Force users who have been coerced into tracking down the remaining Jedi.
They’ve all given up their former names and are now just known as Brothers or Sisters of the order.
Pre-order Fourth Sister at Zavvi for £25.99
Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi – Fifth Brother (Inquisitor)
Fifth Brother was played by Han from Fast & Furious (Picture: Hasbro)
The Fifth Brother was often featured in Rebels, so seeing him in live action, and getting an action figure of his own, is a neat treat for fans.
Especially as he still has his signature rotating lightsaber.
Pre-order Fifth Brother at Zavvi for £25.99
Lego Inquisitor Transport Scythe (set 75336)
That is a pretty cool spaceship (pic: Lego)
The two Lego sets are out this year, but not until August.
The biggest one recreates the Inquisitor’s spaceship and has a generous selection of minifigures, including ‘Ben’ Kenobi, the Grand Inquisitor, Reva, and the Fifth Brother.
Pre-order Inquisitor Transport Scythe at Zavvi for £89.99
Lego Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader (set 75334)
To be honest, that’s not the best Lego set ever made (pic: Lego)
The other set from the show also has a lot of minifigures, including Tala and NED-B, and recreates the first rematch with Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi from Part III.
Pre-order Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader for £44.99
If that’s still not enough Obi-Wan Kenobi merch for you there’s also a variety of Funko Pop! Vinyl dolls and 3¾” figures, including realistic looking ones and purposefully low tech retro designs.
There’re also two different versions of L0-LA59, the little ladybird style droid that belonged to young Princess Leia, depending on exactly how much you want to spend. As with everything else, though, they’re not available now and you still have to pre-order.
