Warning: Major spoilers for Thor: Love And Thunder ahead.
Thor: Love and Thunder has finally been released and there is a lot to unpack.
We caught up with the god of thunder (Chris Hemsworth) as he battles Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) and he reunited with his ex, and the new Mighty Thor, Dr Jane Foster (Natalie Portman).
Despite never confirming whether we’ll get a Thor 5 in years to come, writer and director Taika Waititi appears to have left the door very much open.
And nothing confirmed that more than the mid-credits scene, and the introduction of a very intriguing new character.
This is your final spoiler warning!
What happens in the Thor: Love and Thunder mid-credits scene?
Russell Crowe stars as Zeus (Picture: Marvel Studios)
By the end of the film, Zeus (Russell Crowe) is left fuming with Thor after taking a lightning bolt to the chest.
He declares that Thor needs to ‘fall out of the sky’ and, in the mid-credits scene, we see him talking to a certain someone, explaining his plans to bring him down.
Zeus finally says: ‘Do you understand, Hercules?’
The camera cuts to Hercules, played by none other than Brett Goldstein.
Who is Hercules actor Brett Goldstein?
Brett is best known for his role in Ted Lasso (Picture: Rich Fury/Getty Images)
For the uninitiated, Brett is a British actor and comedian, best known for his role as the foul-mouthed Roy Kent in Ted Lasso. He also won a Primetime Emmy for the role.
Brett’s currently best known for his TV work (although that looks set to change now), after appearing in the likes of Ricky Gervais’s Derek, and Drifters.
As for his film work, he has appeared in the comedy Adult Life Skills, and co-wrote Catherine Tate’s The Nan Movie.
Brett also co-wrote the Catherine Tate Live Show and is a stand-up comedian in his own right, as well as hosting his podcast Films To Be Buried With.
What happens in the Thor: Love and Thunder post-credits scene?
Natalie Portman’s Jane had quite the journey (Picture: Marvel/Paramount/Kobal/REX/Shutterstock)
The post-credits scene in Thor: Love and Thunder takes us back to Jane, who battled cancer in the film, and finally died after returning for a last fight with Thor.
After her death broke Thor’s heart, we see her peacefully walking into the afterlife.
She’s greeted by Idris Elba’s Heimdall, who died at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. He thanks her for looking after his son, before welcoming her into Valhalla, the afterlife of the gods.
Finally, we were blessed with a final promise from Marvel, that ‘Thor will return’.
Whether that will be in a potential Thor 5, only time will tell, but it does seem that the door has very much been left open.
Thor: Love and Thunder is in cinemas now.
