In today’s wild and bizarre showbiz story, Armie Hammer’s team has been forced to shoot down claims the actor is moonlighting as a concierge at a hotel in the Cayman Islands.

We told you this was a weird one.

Earlier this week a viral tweet did the rounds which showed a flyer emblazoned with the 35-year-old Social Network actor’s mug and claiming he was an employee of Morritt’s Resort.

However, in a move that probably has him wondering why he does his day job, Hammer’s lawyer Andrew Brettler confirmed the flyer is fake.

That and, to rub salt into the wounds of anyone who was hoping the actor – who has stepped away from the Hollywood limelight following allegations of sexual abuse, which he has vehemently denied – was taken a quieter career route, a hotel staffer (an actual one) who also spoke to Variety over the phone said the picture all boiled down to a prank.

The picture everyone is losing their breakfast over emerged from a since-deleted tweet from verified Twitter user @Muna_Mire, in which Mire wrote: ‘My friend’s parents went on vacation in the Cayman Islands and armie hammer was their concierge i’m still not over it.’

On the image of Hammer, text read: ‘I am your personal concierge.’

In another tweet depicting a conversation, a screenshot read: ‘Fun fact: our concierge is The Arnie [sic] Hammer.’

Hammer retreated from public life last year and checked into a rehab facility for seven months following allegations of sexual assault and cannibalism fantasies, all of which he denied.

In January 2021, unverified messages, allegedly from Hammer, were leaked online in which the sender had cannibalistic and disturbing sexual fantasies and wanted the recipients of the messages to be his slaves.

Then in March, a 24-year-old woman, known as Effie, claimed to have had an on/off relationship with Hammer for four years after meeting him on Facebook in 2016.

She alleged that he had ‘violently’ assaulted her for four hours, repeatedly hitting her head against a wall.

Hammer’s lawyer called the allegations ‘outrageous’ and issued a statement to Metro.co.uk, which read: ‘Effie’s own correspondence with Mr. Hammer undermines and refutes her outrageous allegations. As recently as July 18, 2020, [she] sent graphic texts to Mr. Hammer telling him what she wanted him to do to her. Mr. Hammer responded making it clear that he did not want to maintain that type of relationship with her. The screenshot below is just one of hundreds [she] sent to Mr. Hammer.’

‘It was never Mr. Hammer’s intention to embarrass or expose her fetishes or kinky sexual desires, but she has now escalated this matter to another level by hiring a civil lawyer to host a public press conference. With the truth on his side, Mr. Hammer welcomes the opportunity to set the record straight.’

He continued: ‘From day one, Mr. Hammer has maintained that all of his interactions with [her] — and every other sexual partner of his for that matter — have been completely consensual, discussed and agreed upon in advance, and mutually participatory. [Her] attention seeking and ill-advised legal bid will only make it more difficult for real victims of sexual violence to get the justice they deserve.’

Last year, the actor – who shares two children with estranged wife Elizabeth Chambers, seven-year-old daughter Harper and five-year-old son Ford – left upcoming series on The Godfather, The Offer, was replaced by Josh Duhamel in Shotgun Wedding, and was dropped from Cold War drama Billion Dollar Spy – thought to be the final film on his slate.
