Gogglebox favourite Pete Sandiford has revealed he won’t be quitting his job as a roofer anytime soon, despite finding fame on the Channel 4 series.

Pete, 27, and his sister Sophie, 26, have been cracking up viewers on Gogglebox for five years, and are easily two of the most popular stars of the show.

Father-of-one Pete, however, has no plans to branch out into showbiz, and is sticking to the day job.

The siblings attended the Trip Awards in London this week, and Pete said: ‘We just saw Eamonn Holmes

‘I am just a builder from Blackpool, so it is a bit strange when celebrities know us. I was on a roof yesterday.’

Pete stressed to The Sun that he needs to keep his job ‘to pay my mortgage somehow’, with Channel 4 paying its Goggleboxers £1,500 a month.

And he has no plans to follow the likes of Scarlett Moffatt or Tom Malone Jr into more reality TV.

‘No, nothing beats sitting on the sofa,’ he added.

The Tric Awards saw top prizes for Clive Myrie for his inspiring reporting from the front line in Ukraine while Pete’s pal Eamonn won News Presenter of The Year.

Naturally, after his explosive exit from ITV, he had some stern words after his triumph, telling Good Morning Britain: ‘We’re coming for you.’

Celebrity Gogglebox airs tonight at 9pm on Channel 4.
