Kate Mara has shared that she is expecting her second child with husband Jamie Bell, and in a very sweet and low-key way.

The 39-year-old actress took to Instagram on Sunday, as is the norm, to share her news with the world – but there were no artful bump shots in sight.

Instead, the former House of Cards actress shared a picture of herself and Jamie at a BFI dinner on June 28 in London at Claridge’s.

Walking hand in hand, Jamie, 36, leads the way in a dark blue suit and crisp white shirt while Kate follows, smiling, in a loose pale pink shift dress with silver embellished bib detailing.

The pair were attending the BFI Chair’s Dinner awarding BFI Fellowships to James Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.

‘There are three of us in this pic,’ she captioned her post, announcing the news in her own casual way.

Friends and fans rushed to share in the excitement at the news.

‘🤗🤗🤗 Congratulations!’ posted Broadway star Andrew Rannells, while another pal wrote: ‘Congratssss [sic] I can’t wait for another cutie.’

‘Congratulations!!!’ penned Oscar winner Octavia Spencer, while We Own This City’s Wunmi Mosaku commented: ‘Congratulations love!! ❤️’

The couple are already parents to a three-year-old daughter, who they welcomed in May 2019.

Kate shared her arrival publicly a few weeks after the fact with a picture of her 10 tiny toes as she snoozed on a fluffy blanket.

Shortly afterwards she opened up on feeling ‘genuinely terrified’ after finding out she would need a Caesarean section over the home birth she had hoped for.

The actress was induced at 36 weeks because she was suffering from Cholestasis, a liver disease that can occur in late pregnancy and potentially harm the unborn baby, but she then needed the emergency C-section after developing a fever following an epidural.

Despite having a ‘premonition’ that surgery wouldn’t go well, all was okay in the end and Kate said she ‘wouldn’t do anything differently’ because her daughter arrived safely.

‘My husband brought her over to me and he kind of held her on my chest and it was amazing, but it was not at all what I imagined it would be. I could barely keep my eyes open to look at her.’

‘We really did do everything in our power to make it as peaceful and natural and easy for our baby to come out as possible,’ she added on Dr. Berlin’s Informed Pregnancy podcast.

Jamie and Kate tied the knot in July 2017, 12 years after first meeting in Hollywood and two years after revealing that they were dating at the Met Gala in 2015.

Their romance blossomed when they starred alongside Miles Teller and Michael B Jordan in the 2015 adventure flick Fantastic Four.

Jamie also has a eight-year-old son from his first marriage to Westworld’s Evan Rachel Wood.
