Former Love Island contestant Amy Hart strongly denied claims that the show is scripted after previous islanders spoke out.

We’re only a month into season eight of the hit dating programme, and fans have already seen couples break up and make up (and that’s just Andrew Le Page and Tasha Ghouri) and the reign of Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu will go down in the series hall of fame – and we’ve still got few weeks left to go!

Many cast members have previously spoken out about what happens behind the scenes at the villa, and some have branded the narrative as ‘fake’ and heavily ‘produced.’

Amy – who featured on season five – laughed off the rumours and explained the producers were simply there to guide everyone.

Speaking exclusively to Metro.co.uk she said: ‘It’s not scripted at all. People say it’s scripted, when do you think we’re learning these scripts? Do you think it’s like EastEnders?’

Explaining how the recoupling process works, Amy added: ‘ Obviously we knew the recoupling was coming in the evening.

‘We worked together. I never had mine [speech] written because I was with the same person [Curtis Pritchard] the whole time. Sometimes they might say “can you add a little bit more” because it wasn’t long enough but that’s it.

Amy – who was recently given the ultimate 80’s makeover to promote a new dining experience based on the 1985 classic The Breakfast Club – shockingly left the series following her break up with Curtis.

And the star revealed that people were convinced her emotional exit was planned.

‘People thought my leaving speech was scripted,’ she added.

‘I was like if I could learn and perform that, then wow.’

The 29-year-old has been dishing out all the Love Island secrets on TikTok and fans have praised Amy for being so open about her experience on the show.

In May, she revealed the agonising methods she took to lose weight before making her debut, which included calling in sick at work so she could spend more time at the gym.

Although she is now a healthy weight, the former British Airways cabin crew member dropped down to 9st ahead of her entrance.

‘Eight weeks, gym every day, 1800 calories vegan diet plan,’ Amy revealed in an episode of Embarrassing Bodies. ‘I gave up drinking, I’d call in sick to work so I could go to the gym instead.’

When pressed on why she felt the need to take such unhealthy measures, Amy replied: ‘I thought I needed to do that to be attractive to the boys that would be in the villa.’

Subway have created the Detention Diner in partnership with The Luna Cinemas to celebrate their screening of The Breakfast Club on Wednesday July 13 – one of several movies being screened outdoors over the summer. Tickets are available via https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/381643484937.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
