Video games and consoles aren’t the only things that are being discounted on Amazon Prime Day, with the Meta Quest 2 also included.
Whether you prefer to call it the Oculus Quest 2 or Meta Quest 2, Facebook’s VR headset is by far the most successful there’s ever been and surprisingly cheap even when it’s not on sale.
Cheap for a VR headset is not cheap by other measures though, so if you’ve been holding out then the price getting below £300 on Prime Day could be just the excuse you need to finally pull the trigger.
For that price you get everything you need, including the 128GB version of the headset, the two controllers, and even a neat little case to store it all in.
The central appeal of Oculus Quest 2 is that it doesn’t need to connect to a console or PC to work, so there are no hidden extras that you need to buy.
The only problem with the deal is that 128GB is not a lot of space to store many games, so if you want to increase that then the only option is the 256GB model, which is handily also part of Prime Day.
Oculus Quest 2 – Advanced All-in-One Virtual Reality Headset – 128 GB & Dazed Oculus Quest 2 Case V2 – Black – £299.00 (was £323.99)
Meta Quest 2 — Advanced All-In-One Virtual Reality Headset — 256 GB + Dazed Oculus Quest 2 Case V2 – Black – £399.00 (was £423.99)
The Oculus Quest 2 was first released in 2020 and some have already begun to ask whether that means an Oculus Quest 3 is coming out soon.
While one is inevitable there’s been no official sign of it so far, so it seems unlikely it’d be released until late next year at the earliest.
Either way, it’ll be more expensive and given the improvements were relatively small from Oculus Quest 1 to 2 it shouldn’t be too much of a risk to buy one while it’s on sale.
