The Television Academy have honoured the late Chadwick Boseman with an Emmy nomination for the voiceover for his famous role of T’Challa in Marvel’s animated superhero series What If…?
The celebrated and much-loved actor died aged 43 in August 2020 following a private four-year battle with colon cancer. Most were unaware that Boseman was ill until the tragic news broke.
Boseman was best known for playing the lead role in Marvel’s ground-breaking superhero blockbuster Black Panther.
As well as voicing T’Challa, following his death, he earned acclaim for his final role in the Netflix drama Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, for which he was posthumously nominated for an Oscar.
Boseman’s What If…? character left fans overcome with emotion as they remember the late actor as Black Panther.
In episode 6 of the Disney Plus show, released more than a year after Boseman’s death, he returns once more, going up against his cousin as Killmonger strives to assert his control over Wakanda.

Killmonger is reintroduced into the MCU as the saviour of Tony Stark (Mick Wingert), preventing the billionaire businessman from being injured and kidnapped, as depicted in the first Iron Man film.
While Black Panther tries to stop Killmonger, his efforts are left futile, as the episode ends with his funeral, with the former Black Panther’s coffin flanked by Wakanda’s Dora Milaje.
