Jamie Lee Curtis has admitted she made some ‘embarrassing’ assumptions about her Knives Out co-star Ana de Armas when they first met.
The 63-year-old admitted when she first met the Cuban actress she ‘assumed’ she was ‘inexperienced’ and ‘unsophisticated’ and offered to connect her in Hollywood.
Jamie added that she was ‘embarrassed’ about her initial judgement of Ana based solely on her background.
‘I assumed – and I say this with real embarrassment – because she had come from Cuba, that she had just arrived,’ Jamie told Elle.
‘I made an assumption that she was an inexperienced, unsophisticated young woman. That first day, I was like, “Oh, what are your dreams?”’
Jamie asked the question as she was ‘so impressed’ with the actress, so much so that she also offered to introduce her to Steven Spielberg to chat about the West Side Story reboot.

The True Lies actress also thought about connecting her with her godchildren Maggie and Jake Gyllenhaal.
Jamie was ‘surprised’ to discover Ana already knew Jake and was close to her former co-star Keanu Reeves after they worked together in her first English-language film, Knock Knock.
In the lengthy interview, Ana opened up about her own feelings of being an outsider in Los Angeles, even with her newfound fame and moving out of the city after her high-profile relationship with Ben Affleck.

Jamie continued to shed a light on her friend saying that she is ‘not as fancy as maybe the advertisements would have you believe’.
The Freaky Friday star emphasised how Ana ‘leans in’, and is ‘curious’ and ‘interested’.
Her fellow co-star Chris Evans also gushed about Ana and admitted he’s a huge ‘fan’ of the actress he’s worked with in Knives Out, Netflix’s The Gray Man and the upcoming movie Ghosted.

‘I’m a fan first. There are certain people on camera you can’t stop watching, and her range, from power to vulnerability, is incredibly wide,’ Chris said about Ana.
‘Every actor has strong suits, but she can go from almost dangerous to exposed and gentle and soft in one scene.’
Knives Out is available on streaming services now.
