Love Island star Jacques O’Neill’s former rugby team casts doubt on immediate resigning: ‘He’ll want to make a couple million first’-Sabrina Barr-Entertainment – Metro

Love Island star Jacques O’Neill’s former rugby coach has revealed he’s already paid a visit to his old teammates upon his return home, remarking how he ‘looked jaded’.

However, when asked about the possibility of resigning the player – with Castleford Tigers previously saying they’d have ‘the first option to sign O’Neill back next year should he wish to return to rugby league’ – they implied the 23-year-old might want to take some more time for himself first.

During last night’s episode of the ITV2 programme, Jacques broke down in tears to Paige Thorne as he told her that he’d decided to quit the show, as he didn’t feel like he’d been acting like himself.

Having become enraged by the comments bombshell Adam Collard made about him behind his back, Jacques and Paige had yet another quarrel, which appeared to fuel his decision to quit as he didn’t feel like he was being the ‘best’ version of himself for his partner.

Following his exit, Castleford Tigers head coach Lee Radford was asked about the prospect of resigning Jacques in the near future, after he was released from his contract to enter the villa.

‘I think he’ll want to make a couple of million first and then maybe dip his toe into rugby league, we’ll have to see,’ Lee joked.

‘He seemed pretty busy this morning, he was on the phone a fair bit.’

The head coach added that the prospect of resigning was ‘not something we’ve spoken about’, as Jacques only just flew home last night.

‘He looked jaded, he’d had no sleep, obviously all the euphoria of doing what he’s been doing, I suppose, that’s probably a conversation for further down the line, I think,’ he stated.

Lee also revealed that Jacques visited the Super League club during a training session on Wednesday morning.

‘He’s been in this morning to see the boys,’ he said, although he admitted he wasn’t a particularly big fan of the reality star’s outfit.

‘I don’t know who dressed him, I think he’s come in fancy dress today, but no he’s come in to say hi to the lads,’ he quipped. ‘The boys were really pleased to see him.’

Following Jacques departure from Love Island, his mum spoke out to confirm he’d returned home, writing on Instagram: ‘He is home.’

She also shared a fanmade TikTok video featuring a compilation of clips of Jacques on Love Island spending time with Paige and close friend Luca, set to Kodaline’s song Brother.

Fans will be waiting to see whether Paige will explore connections with other islanders following Jacques’ exit, considering Adam and Billy Brown have both shown interest in her.

However, she may choose to stay loyal to Jacques, who vowed to wait for her in the outside world despite the obstacles they faced in their relationship, including him kissing Cheyanne Kerr while Paige was away in Casa Amor.
