Warning: spoilers ahead for the Ms Marvel episode 6 finale.

The Ms Marvel episode 6 finale sees Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) at her most powerful so far, demonstrating the incredible extent of her powers as she fights to protect all she holds dear.

Teaming up with friends Bruno (Matt Lintz) and Nakia (Yasmeen Fletcher), fellow Clandestine descendant Kamran (Rish Shah), former pal Zoe (Laurel Marsden) and brother Aamir (Saagar Shaikh), Kamala brings the battle to the Department of Damage Control after the organisation tracks the group down at their school.

In one of the most exciting twists of the series, Bruno makes a nod to the X-Men and how they could feed into Kamala’s genetics… shortly before the post-credits scene reveals the long-awaited return of Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), as Carol Danvers shows up in Kamala’s bedroom.

Here’s what went down.

Kamala Khan finally suits up

Before Ms Marvel began, fans were able to feast their eyes on Kamala’s final superhero suit in all its glory.

However, it wasn’t until the final episode that we were finally granted a look at it in live action, after it was given to the teenager as a gift by her mother, Muneeba (Zenobia Shroff).

Watching a masked-up Kamala transport herself through the streets using her powers, watched in awe by members of the public below, was a sight to behold.

One fan admitted that they ‘wanted to see that suit in action way more’, while another remarked: ‘This suit is fire.’

Fortunately, we know Kamala will be back as Ms Marvels in The Marvels, so there’ll surely be plenty more action in her superhero suit to come!

Kamran escapes Damage Control to meet Red Dagger

In episode five, Kamran developed powers after his mother Najma (Nimra Bucha) sacrificed her life to close the Veil between Kamala’s world and the Noor dimension.

In doing so, she managed to transmit abilities to her son, Kamran, who is struggling to cope with the powers now painfully coursing through his body.

Now on the radar of the Department of Damage Control after accidentally causing an explosion at Bruno’s apartment, Kamala and her friends – including Bruno, Nakia, former friend Zoe and brother Aamir – hatch a plan to cause a diversion at the school.

While at one point it seems as though Kamran might succumb to evil due to his anger over the way the Department is treating him and the discovery of his mother’s death, Kamala manages to convince him to seek out Red Dagger, aka Kareem (Aramis Knight), for help in Pakistan.

Considering the Clandestines’ historic feud with the Red Daggers, it’ll be interesting to see that relationship unfold.

Bruno reveals Ms Marvel’s apparent X-Men link

Before Ms Marvel came out, fans wondered whether the show would stay true to the comics by revealing her Inhuman genes.

Kamala’s best friend Bruno found out that her bangle unlocked superhuman abilities that were already inside her, with it later being revealed that Kamala’s great-grandmother, Aisha (Mehwish Hayat) was a member of the Clandestines – otherwise known as Djinns – from the dimension Noor.

In the finale, Bruno adds one more piece to the puzzle to explain Kamala’s powers, telling her: ‘I went back and looked at your genetic makeup again,’ because her brother was asking whether he could also have powers.

‘I think we might have had it wrong the first time around,’ he continues. ‘We know why you have access to the Noor and how you can wield it, but when I compared you to the rest of your family, something still seemed off.

‘Kamala, there’s something different in your genes. Like a mutation.’

The theme tune for the 1990s X-Men animated series could then be heard playing as the camera zoomed in on Kamala’s face – and numerous fans were left ‘screaming’ with excitement, especially as the credits confirmed the inclusion of the tune.

‘CUE THE X-MEN MUSIC. SCREAMING,’ one viewer wrote, while another exclaimed: ‘X-MEN 97 THEME PLAYING IM LITERALLY ALL THE EMOTIONS RIGHT NOW.’

Sounds like the MCU’s introduction of mutants and X-Men characters might not be far off!

Carol Danvers blasts into post-credits scene

That’s right – Captain Marvel is back.

Shortly after Kamala’s superhero moniker Ms Marvel is finally said aloud, the post-credits scene opens with the teenager lying on her bed in her world-saving get-up.

Her bangle starts to glow in an unusual manner, prompting Kamala to stand up as she looks down at it curiously.

She’s blasted through her cupboard door… but then Carol Danvers stands up in her place, gazing wondrously at her glowing hands.

Captain Marvel looks around the room, realising she’s in the bedroom of a huge fan as her face is plastered all over the walls… seemingly confirming that this is still Carol, rather than Kamala in the Avenger’s body in a classic Freaky Friday switcheroo.

‘Oh no no no,’ Carol says, before dashing off-screen.

Could Carol and Kamala’s powers be connected? Hopefully we’ll find out when they both return in the 2023 film the Marvels, alongside WandaVision’s Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris).

Ms Marvel is available to watch on Disney Plus.
