Sydney Sweeney has shared the emotional moment she called her mother after receiving not one, but two Emmy nominations.

The 24-year-old actress has earned her first two Emmy Award nominations for her roles as Olivia in The White Lotus and Cassie in HBO drama Euphoria, which also stars Zendaya.

Sharing a clip to Instagram of her breaking down in tears as she called her mum after the good news, Sydney wrote: ‘What a morning!

‘Thank you so much to the @televisionacad for my Emmy nominations! It’s an honor to know that both Olivia and Cassie have connected with so many.

‘I’m so proud of both these shows and grateful to everybody that’s been apart of them.

‘But most importantly mom, I love you, we did it through the ups and downs! Thank you thank you!!’

Fans and friends rushed to celebrate in the comments, with Zendaya writing: ‘YEEESSS SYD!!!!!! Congratulations.’

In the clip, Sydney’s mum is heard congratulating her before being taken off speaker, as the star cries ‘Mom!’ excitedly, while her phone buzzes with other thrilled friends.

Sydney was nominated in the outstanding supporting actress in a drama series category for her role as Cassie, while her role as Olivia scored her a nomination in the outstanding limited series category.

After the nominations were announced, she told People: ‘I’m excited, I’m in disbelief, I’m beyond appreciative.’

She added: ‘I wasn’t really expecting this. When I fell in love with acting, and when I fall in love with my characters, I don’t really think about the whole award aspect of it.

‘I think there are so many incredibly actors that I was rooting for, so I wasn’t ready.’

Euphoria fans have previously demanded Sydney’s co-star Zendaya is awarded another Emmy for her role as Rue.

The ‘deeply emotional’ Bafta-winning TV series follows high school student Rue Bennett as she relapses into drug addiction, following an unsuccessful stint in rehab.

In September 2020, Zendaya made history as the youngest ever actress to win the lead actress in a drama series award, and beat off competition from the likes of Olivia Colman, Jennifer Aniston, and Jodie Comer.

She said: ‘I’m really, really nervous… I just want to say thank you to the TV Academy, to all the other incredible women in this category, I admire you all so much, this is pretty crazy. I don’t really cry!

‘To the incredible cast and crew of Euphoria, I’m so lucky to go to work with you every day and I’m inspired by everything you do.

‘And to Sam Levinson, I appreciate you so much and you’re my family, I’m so grateful for Rue, I’m so grateful that you trusted me with your story, and I hope I can continue to do you proud.’
