Boy, 16, celebrated by classmates after attending prom in absolutely stunning gown: ‘I’m living the dream!’-Charlotte Manning-Entertainment – Metro

Korben White left his classmates in awe with his gorgeous prom outfit inspired by Billy Porter’s 2019 Oscars look. 

The teenager, 16, from Norfolk, donned a red sparkling tuxedo dress at his recent prom, and was met with cheers by his fellow pupils upon arrival. 

Pictures shared by his mum went viral online after she posted them on her social media, soon receiving an incredible reaction.

On Thursday, Korben appeared on This Morning with his mum Nina to chat about the reception his gown received, alongside hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.

Korben told the pair: ‘I’ve always been feminine. Dressing up in my cousins’ dresses, playing with Barbies… I just knew I wanted to wear a dress when it came to prom.’

His mum explained how they felt in the lead up to his big day, and why she felt it so important to sort an outfit which perfectly reflected her son.

She shared with them: ‘We were really excited, I wanted to make it special for him, for showing who he is and that he’s being true to himself. 

‘We got him the suit and we took him to prom, and the most amazing bit for me, as a parent, is when he got out of the car, the reaction of all of his friends at school.’

When probed by Dermot on what it was like, she replied: ‘They cheered, they all cheered and clapped. It was full of acceptance.

‘It just means so much, because there are children out there that don’t have the support.

‘It’s so important to me that we let our children be who they are, I believe if you let your children be who they are, you’ll never get anything but the bet out of them.’

She went on to say she’s ‘so proud’ of her soon, who excitedly told the hosts he’s: ‘Living the dream.’ 

Korben’s outfit consisted of a red sequined tuxedo top half, with a floating skirt on the lower half. 

He finished off the outfit with a silk bow tie, a red and gold clutch bag and a golden tiara.

When Dermot asked if he was surprised by the reaction, he said: ‘Yeah, I’m so blessed to have such supportive friends and family so to be accepted was amazing. 

‘To be an ordinary boy in a dress was amazing and shows you don’t have to be feminine or masculine.’
