What’s on in London this week: From the First Night of the Proms to Sister Act-Simon Gage-Entertainment – Metro
London’s events scene is on fire this week – and we’re not talking about the heatwave.

It’s set to be a scorcher this week, but the temperature isn’t the only thing on fire in the capital this week.
Hot talent both old and new are lighting up the stage as a whole host of events come to London.
From crowd-pleasing musicals to big name musicians, from up-and-coming comics to culture legends, there is plenty to see and do in the next seven days or so.
Plus the Proms kick off with its explosive first night with a rousing performance of Verdi’s Requiem.
So get booking your tickets, and let’s hope some of these venues have air-con!

Milton Avery: American Colourist

This exhibition of the works of acclaimed American 20th-century artist Milton Avery is the most comprehensive collection of his art to be assembled in Europe, presenting over 70 paintings from 1910 to the 1960s, including portraits of loved ones and landscapes of Maine and Cape Cod.

First Night of the Proms

After two years of hosting reduced capacity audiences, The Proms now returns to its former glory – kicking off this year’s season with a performance of Verdi’s Requiem by the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Crouch End Festival Chorus with soloists soprano Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha and tenor Freddie De Tommaso.
