WWE ends PG era as Raw ‘gets PG-14 rating’ after 14 years and fans are calling for new attitude-Alistair McGeorge-Entertainment – Metro

WWE is reportedly bringing the PG era to an end after well over a decade.
Back in 2008, the company took a major stride away from the memories of the Attitude Era – which saw a much edgier style of TV – by adopting a PG rating, but from July 18 they’ll be going back to a TV-14 product.
According to Andrew Zarian of Mat Men podcast, the change will come into effect with Monday’s episode of Raw, which airs on the USA network in the states.
It’s unclear if SmackDown – which airs on Fox in the US – will follow suit, while both shows can be watched on BT Sport 1 for UK viewers.
It’s unclear how the change in rating will be reflected in the weekly product, with some fans hoping for a more mature show in terms of violence, blood and language.
On TV Parental Guidelines, the rating is defined as: ‘This program contains some material that many parents would find unsuitable for children under 14 years of age.
‘Parents are strongly urged to exercise greater care in monitoring this program and are cautioned against letting children under the age of 14 watch unattended.
‘This program may contain one or more of the following: intensely suggestive dialogue (D), strong coarse language (L), intense sexual situations (S), or intense violence (V).’
Cody Rhodes – who is currently out with a pectoral tear – shared a wink emoji, seemingly in reference to the report, while plenty of fans are excited to see how he responds on screen to any potential changes.
One Twitter user made a nod to his theme music and wrote: ‘Adrenaline In My Soul, We will see blood on Cody Rhodes.’
Another hopeful fan tweeted: ‘The PG Era is OVER!!!!!!!! Second coming of the Attitude Era Baby!!!’
A different person added: ‘I never thought PG was a good idea. I’m glad they’re going back to their roots. Imagine if we get a second Attitude Era.’
WWE Raw airs Monday nights at 1am on BT Sport 1.
