Adele is planning on creating a documentary delving into her career, including the postponement of her Las Vegas residency, it’s been reported.

The singer recently returned to the stage for the first time in five years to headline the BST Hyde Park festival, leaving fans in awe with her incredible performances.

Ahead of her two nights fronting the event, she appeared on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, addressing the backlash she received at the time for the cancellation as she said: ‘It was horrible and the reaction was brutal. I was a shell of a person for a couple of months.’

It’s now been claimed that the response to the delay of her Las Vegas gigs is part of the reason why she wants to create an ‘intimate’ documentary about her life.

A source reportedly told The Sun: ‘Adele feels she let fans down somewhat with how the past 12 months have panned out, particularly the last-minute postponement of her Las Vegas residency, and sees this as a way of making up for that.

‘One thing is for certain, it will be must-watch TV. Even though everyone knows her name, Adele is still quite mysterious as a person.’

The source also emphasised how different Adele’s life is now to when she released her first album, stating: ‘Her life now compared to when she released her debut album is unrecognisable.’

Speaking further on Desert Island Discs on the furore surrounding her Las Vegas residency, the multi-Grammy Award winner recalled how ‘frightened’ she was of letting her fans down when they couldn’t make the concerts ‘work’.

‘I stand by that decision. I don’t think any other artist would have done what I did, and I think that is why it was such a massive, massive story,’ she said.

‘It was like, “I don’t care” and things like that. You can’t buy me. You can’t buy me for nothing. I’m not going to just do a show because I have to or because people are going to be let down or because we are going to lose loads of money. I’m like, “The show is not good enough,”’ she added.

When Adele made the announcement that the residency had been postponed, she shared a tearful video on social media, saying everyone ‘tried absolutely everything we can to pull it together in time and for it to be good enough’.
