Not content with being one of Britain’s biggest selling female artists of the 21st century, Lily Allen has recently turned her eyes to the world of TV and film.

The LDN singer, 37, who scored three number one singles between 2006 and 2013, debuted on the stage in 2:22 A Ghost Story last year.

And now she’s set to make her first ever big TV appearance in Catastrophe star Sharon Horgan’s new comedy series Dreamland.

The series, set to appear on Sky, will see Lily playing a woman visiting her sister in the famous Kent seaside town, ahead of a family baby shower.

Lily was spotted in costume while she was filming on the town’s main promenade earlier this week.

She was seen wearing a number of outfits while in character, including a peach T-shirt and denim skirt, and a denim dungaree with a hi-vis jacket as she picked up litter.

Dreamland is an adaptation of the 2016 short film of the same name, which starred comic actress Morgana Robinson and was also created by Sharon Horgan.

The film won a Bafta Award for short form programme in 2017, and Sky Arts have now sanctioned the creation of a full series.

It may be the first time that Lily – who was nominated for an Olivier Award for her role in 2:22 – A Ghost Story – has landed a lead role on TV, but it’s not the first time she’s tested her acting chops in front of a camera.

In 1998, she made a very brief appearance in the film Elizabeth, starring Cate Blanchett, which was produced by Lily’s mum, Alison Owen.

And in 2019 she appeared alongside brother Alfie (Theon Greyjoy from Game of Thrones) in How to Build a Girl, the adaptation of Caitlin Moran’s novel of the same name, which starred Beanie Feldstein.

It should come as no surprise to see Lily moving into the world of TV, after she married Stranger Things actor David Harbour in 2020.

Musing about his partner, David recently revealed that he fell in love with Lily on their third date, when she continued to contact him after he confessed his ‘beliefs’ to her.’

‘It would take a really extraordinary person to be accepting of the things that I said. And I remember thinking, “Wow, that’s somebody I want to be around.”‘
