Love Island fans won’t have long left of their favourite islanders, as the show is soon set to come to an end.

The current series is reported to be on track for an eight-week run and will end on Monday, August 1.

This means the remaining contestants are thought to be exiting the villa in just over two weeks time.

A source said: ‘There was speculation that ITV might extend the series because ratings have been so impressive this year.

‘But they also know there can be too much of a good thing.

‘With Winter Love Island coming back in 2023, bosses want to keep anticipation high and not exhaust the format,’ they told The Sun.

It was originally believed this year’s show would be its longest run yet.

There were rumours of a change to the length of this year’s show, keeping fans entertained for 10 weeks instead of the usual six to eight weeks.

This year’s applicants were asked to be available for 10 weeks.

A Love Island spokesperson insisted to Metro.co.uk that ‘no date has been confirmed.’

However, with the drama of Casa Amor now well and truly out the way (almost), it’s clear the show is beginning to come towards the end stages.

Tonight’s episode will give fans a huge boost of drama, when the show airs its Move Night instalment.

This is where clips of moments from Casa Amor and around the villa, which were unseen by some other islanders, are shown to the whole group.

But will any shocking revelations be laid out bare for some of the islanders?

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
