Lorraine Kelly will be back on our screens on her beloved ITV show next week after testing negative from a ‘nasty’ bout of coronavirus.

The 62-year-old had been forced to pull out of the long-running morning programme when she discovered she had contracted Covid-19 last weekend .

In Lorraine’s place, former Countdown presenter Carol Vorderman took over presenting duties, fronting the show every day this past week.

But the Scot will return on Monday, updating her fans on Instagram: ‘NEGATIVE!! Finally – a nasty one but feeling fine now.

‘See you all on Monday 9am @lorraine @itv HUGE thanks to @carolvorders for holding the fort.

‘I’ve missed you all. #covid #negative #backtowork #happy #feelingbetter

Fans rushed to wish Lorraine well and couldn’t contain their delight over her return to the well-loved show.

Fans commented: ‘Glad [you’re] feeling better’ and ‘We’ve missed you, so glad [you’re] feeling better’.

Another added: ‘Good [you’re] feeling better. Had covid 3 months ago & it’s not pleasant. Look after yourself and take care.’

It’s not the first time in recent weeks that there has been a change in Lorraine’s show, with the programme taken off air mid-way through an episode after it was announced that Boris Johnson would be resigning as Prime Minister.

The presenter had just begun an interview with JLS star Aston Merrygold when news came in that they would be cutting to ITV News live to cover the Prime Minister’s imminent resignation.

Aston, 34, had been less than two minutes into his interview on Lorraine as she cut the chat short, saying: ‘Now, I tell you what, we’ve got more on that news from Westminster.

Turning to Aston, Lorraine added: ‘So very sorry about that, you need to come back!’

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
