Former X Factor winner Ben Haeow has traded the glitz and glamour of the stage to be a stay-at-home dad.

The acclaimed musician won the ITV talent show in 2014 with his track Something I Need, which landed him a £1 million record deal.

Now, eight years later, Ben is the adoring father of a baby son, who he and his wife Jessica welcomed in November 2020.

While still working on a music career, Ben now spends most of his time with his young child, and describes himself as a ‘stay-at-home dad.’

He told The Sun: ‘I do a lot of staying at home with the baby, so I’m like a stay-at-home dad which is lovely but a lot of work goes into looking after him.’

Opening up on becoming a parent, the star admitted that ‘some parts are easier than I thought they’d be, and some parts are more stressful.’

His son is too young to understand his dad’s celebrity status, with Ben joking he won’t ‘bore’ him about his career yet – but is already looking forward to ’embarrass him in front of his friends down the line with that one.’

Asked if he and Jessica are planning to expand their brood, Ben said that ‘one is a handful enough for the time being.’

However he revealed the couple are ‘maybe thinking about having another one next year.’

Ben and Jessica were married in 2017 after 14 years together; the loved-up couple had already been together for nine years when he appeared on the show.

They were married in a gorgeous sunkissed ceremony in northern Italy, with Ben admitting in an interview with the Mail Online: ‘I cried so many tears of joy, I needed a snorkel.

‘I arrived nervous and excited for the biggest day of my life and left with the wife of my dreams after a fairytale wedding.’

The star won the 2014 series after making it to the final with pal Fleur East and has since released several singles.

It’s been years since the formerly massive show last aired, but if rumours are to be believed, it could be making its grand return very soon.
