It won’t be too long until Strictly Come Dancing is back on our screens, but who is rumoured to be included in this year’s lineup?

Strictly has been on the BBC for nearly 20 years, having aired its first series back in 2004.

For 2022, the panel from 2021 will be kept the same, after Bruno Tonioli confirmed he would not be returning to his role.

Anton Du Beke, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and head judge Shirley Ballas will all be judging the contestants once more, as they confirmed their spots earlier this year.

Elsewhere, four new professional dancers will be seen on our screens, taking the total number to 20 – the highest ever on the show.

Those newbies are Vito Coppola, Carlos Gu, Lauren Oakley, and Michelle Tsiakkas.

Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Graziano Di Prima, Amy Dowden, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Cameron Lombard, Gorka Marquez, Luba Mushtuk, Giovanni Pernice, Jowita Przystal, Johannes RadebeKai Widdrington and Nancy Xu have already been confirmed for the upcoming run of Strictly.

But who is rumoured for this year’s line-up? Here are all the names to have been put forward so far.

Who is rumoured for the Strictly 2022 line-up?

Rosie Jones

The much-loved comedian, who has cerebral palsy, revealed she’d definitely be up for a stint on Strictly Come Dancing after taking part in Comic Relief’s opera challenge back in March.

Asked whether she’d be interested in taking to the famous dance floor, she told Metro.co.uk earlier this year: ‘Yeah, absolutely!

‘I’d say what drives me, is when I was growing up, having cerebral palsy I didn’t see anybody like me [on TV]. What I try to do in my work and my comedy is to tell people that yes, I might talk slower and I wobble a little bit but it doesn’t stop me.’

She added how inspirational she has found previous winner Rose Ayling-Ellis: ‘In recent years people like Rose Ayling-Ellis on Strictly, have just shown that having a disability isn’t a disadvantage and it will never stop me! It’s about showing people anything is possible… bring it on!’

Mike Tindall and Lady Louise Windsor

Earlier this summer, it was claimed producers were hoping to sign Mike Tindall and Lady Louise Windsor.

‘The team are doing all they can,’ an insider said. ‘In the year of the Platinum Jubilee, it has been a real priority.’

The source added to The Sun: ‘It would be an incredible coup to secure a royal.’

England rugby star Mike, 43, who is married to Princess Anne’s daughter Zara, is believed to have been on producers’ radars for a while.

Lady Louise, who is the daughter of Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, recently came into the public eye during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The publication claims other royal names floating about for the new Strictly series include model and socialite Lady Amelia Windsor, 26, who is the granddaughter of the Duke of Kent.

But will we actually end up with a royal on Strictly Come Dancing? Watch this space!

Tony Adams

The legendary footballer, 55, is rumoured to have already signed-up to this year’s series, but hasn’t been known for his grace in the past.

He was nicknamed ‘Donkey’ in his early playing days due to his inelegant style of defending, however, he went on to become a star at Arsenal, and also captained England.

A source told The Sun on Sunday: ‘This is shaping up to be a fantastic year for Strictly. They are thrilled to have brought a footballing legend of Tony’s stature to the table.”

Another source added: ‘Tony is a really good sport and has a great sense of humour, which people will get to see for themselves on the Strictly dance floor. He is also not afraid of a challenge and will get really stuck in.

‘Tony is really excited about Strictly. He’s a better mover than people think. He really looks after himself, far more than most 50-somethings. So he might well spring a few surprises. His future dance partners might want to be a bit wary when it comes to lifts though — he does have a bit of form for letting go when it counts.’

Kym Marsh

Ex-Coronation Street actress Kym Marsh quit her long-time role in the ITV soap last year, and currently presents Morning Live alongside Gethin Jones and other famous faces.

Kym has been rumoured for the show in the past with producers reportedly ‘pulling out all the stops’ to get her on the dancefloor this year.

She’d be the latest in a long line of cobbles favourites to get a taste of the Strictly glamour, after Katie McGlynn took on the competition last year – but will she end up on our screens?

Scarlett Moffatt

TV favourite Scarlett is no stranger to winning the hearts of the nation, having previously won I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! back in 2016.

But it seems she’s keen to give the dance floor a whirl, having expressed her interest in the series in the past.

When asked by Digital Spy if she’d be game for signing up last summer, she joked: ‘The Strictly people think I’m this pro dancer because I do a few dances on TikTok. I think everyone thinks I’m a professional dancer.

‘I just love dancing. It just makes you feel happy. Anything that makes you feel happy, I would sign myself up for.’

Adam Thomas

Former Emmerdale actor is another name to have been reported to be wanted by bosses, who are keen to get him as a bit of eye candy for the ladies, according to The Sun.

Adam is the twin brother of Scott Thomas, who featured on Love Island’s second season, and his older brother is Coronation Street alumni, Ryan Thomas.

Ahead of returning to the BBC in the much anticipated new series of Waterloo Road, to reprise his role as Dante Charles, Adam said, according to MailOnline: ‘Bring it all on I love a bit of glitz and glam.

‘I was going to say something then, but it might get blown out of context… I just want to experience the Strictly curse!’

When could Strictly 2022 start?

Strictly Come Dancing’s 2022 series will air on BBC One in the autumn, with the series generally starting on a Saturday night.

The dance competition usually starts in mid-to-late September, with the cast often being announced one-by-one in late August.

But no official date has been set by the BBC just yet. Metro.co.uk will update this story when there is more information.

Fans saw Rose Ayling-Ellis lift the Glitterball trophy back in 2021, alongside partner Giovanni Pernice.

Rose was the programme’s first-ever Deaf contestant to partake in the programme and wowed viewers at home with her dance skills.

Earlier this year, the pairing won Bafta’s Must See TV Moment, which is voted for the public, for their silent dance to Clean Bandit’s song Symphony.

But who will end up following in her footsteps and winning the latest series?

Strictly Come Dancing returns later this year to BBC One.
