Big Mouth star Jak Knight, who also co-created and starred in the Peacock comedy series Bust Down, has died aged 28.

The stand-up comedian, writer, and actor died on Thursday night in Los Angeles, his family announced. A cause of death was not shared.

Knight’s show Bust Down premiered earlier this year in March, with Sam Jay, Langston Kerman, and Chris Redd starring.

The six-episode first season focused on four low-wage employees at an Indiana casino.

Knight’s character, who is also named Jak, was a stockroom worker, and the youngest and most wild of the tight-knit friend group.

Besides having a role in the show, he also served as an executive producer and wrote two episodes, including the premiere.

Prior to Bust Down, Knight worked as a writer and producer on Big Mouth in 2018 and also voiced the character of DeVon, an arthritic 13-year-old.

He was also an executive story editor on a season of Black-ish.

Tributes have been flooding in for the late actor, with the official Peacock account writing on Twitter: ‘We are devastated by the passing of Jak Knight. He was a brilliant comedian, visionary and artist and we were all lucky to experience his greatness.

‘Our hearts are with Jak’s family, friends and community during this heartbreaking time.’

The official Big Mouth Twitter account said: ‘A heartbreaking loss for the Big Mouth family. Writer and voice actor for beloved character Devon. An enormous talent. Rest in peace Jak Knight.’

‘Jak Knight was a hysterical and honest comedian. We will miss him tremendously,’ added Comedy Central.
