Good Morning Britain’s Ben Shephard clashed with biographer Tom Bower over claims that Meghan Markle was a ‘third rate actress’ before marrying Prince Harry during Thursday’s show.
The presenter was discussing the author’s explosive new expose on the royal couple, titled Revenge: Meghan, Harry and the war between the Windsors, in which the Sussexes are branded ‘dreadful’ for Britain.
Ben attempted to argue that Meghan was a successful star thanks to her role as Rachel Zane in the legal drama Suits, however, he was swiftly shot down by Tom, who staunchly disagreed.
‘Meghan was an independent, successful, Hollywood actress, famous in her own right and ambitious, like lots of people are, and has a strong view on how she wants to be seen,’ Ben began.
He then proceeded to ask why should she suddenly be judged for having ‘forthright views’.
‘She’s just trying to control her brand and control who she is, she’s not the first well-known person to do that, is she?’ Ben quizzed.

‘Not at all, but we always say she was a famous actress, she wasn’t, she was a third-rate…,’ Tom replied.
However, Ben quickly cut in before Tom could finish his sentence to rubbish his claims.
‘No, that’s not true,’ he snapped. ‘She was a very famous actress, and she had a high profile in Hollywood and Suits is a series streamed all over the world, so people knew who she was.’

Tom then put a stop to their disagreement. ‘Well, we won’t argue, but I disagree with you,’ he replied.
Meghan had small roles in films including Get Him To The Greek and Remember Me before landing a role in Suits.
