Zac Efron and Netflix are being sued over their reality series Down To Earth, by a health brand which shares the same name.
The show follows Zac, 34, and his friend Darin Olien as they travel the world in search of healthy, sustainable ways to live.
The synopsis states that the two will travel around the world focusing on ‘themes of travel, life experience, nature, green energy and sustainable living practices.’
But now the High School Musical star and streaming giant are being sued by health and wellness brand Down To Earth Organics, according to documents obtained by TMZ.
DTE claims they already had the rights to the name for media and entertainment before Zac’s show premiered, and also claims that the similar names are causing confusion with their customer base, especially as Zac is now branching out into advertising health foods.
According to the lawsuit obtained by the publication, DTE says the Netflix series’ advice on wellness ‘has been widely ridiculed’.

Zac has also recently started promoting Nature Valley granola bars on social media, but DTE say they sell their own bars, and his promotion could actually harm their sales.
DTE is requesting damages from Zac and Netflix, and also seeking a prohibition on both the actor and the streaming giant using the Down To Earth trademark.
Zac’s series sees him visiting eight different locations: Iceland, France, Costa Rica, Sardinia, Lima, Puerto Rico, London and Iquitos.
