Jackass star Poopies was determined to overcome his ‘fear’ after suffering a terrifying shark bite a year ago.
The stuntman – whose real name is Sean McInerney – was back braving the waters for Discovery’s Shark Week over the weekend, and he reflected on the scary stunt which saw him bitten on the hand the wrist.
He needed multiple surgeries and physical therapy sessions after suffering severed tendons, ligaments and muscles, and he still doesn’t have full mobility in the injured hand.
Speaking during Sunday’s Jackass Shark Week 2.0 special, he said: ‘I thought I was gonna die in front of my friends. Um, that’s pretty heavy.’
Despite that, Poopies was determined not to lose his love for the ocean, and he vowed to ‘never’ stop diving.
He added: ‘It’s really important for me to get over that fear, because I don’t want that accident to stop me from doing what I love. I love the ocean, and I love surfing. I’m never gonna stop.’
He was backed by co-stars Johnny Knoxville, Wee Man, Christ Pontius, Dark Shark, Jasper and Zach Holmes, and there was even time for a tongue in cheek reference to last year’s incident.
One of the experts guiding the crew this time round quipped: ‘Keep your left hand in your pocket.’

Thankfully, Poopies made it through this year’s swim with his limbs in tact, and he felt ‘a lot better’ after facing his fear.
He said: ‘Holy moly, I did it. You definitely have to have respect for those sharks. I feel a lot better.
‘I don’t have fear of dying when I’m next to sharks anymore. It was definitely nerve wracking down there. I was definitely a little scared.
‘I had to hang on to the boys a couple of times… Now I can go surf and water ski big waves.’
Last year, Pontius recalled the moment Poopies’ arm was left ‘danging by the tendons’ during the Jumping the Shark stunt, which saw him waterski off a jump and land in the middle of a group of sharks.
He said: ‘We thought the sharks would scatter when he landed off the jump, but instead they attacked him. Right when he landed, you knew it was gonna go bad.’
Jackass Shark Week 2.0 is available on the Discovery Channel.
