Caroline Flack’s twin sister believes the ‘Be Kind’ campaign started after the presenter’s death has changed the world.

The former Love Island presenter took her own life in February 2020 at the age of 40.

At the time, Flack had been accused of striking her boyfriend, and struggled with comments on social media ahead of the planned assault trial.

In December, the star had posted on Instagram a message that urged followers: ‘In a world where you can be anything, be kind.’

Since her death, the Be Kind campaign has asked people to reflect on what they say on social media and the effect their words can have on people, particularly those who may be struggling.

And while there will always be trolls, Flack’s sister Jody thinks Flack’s campaign has made a difference.

‘In my world, it’s changed,’ she said.

As reported by the Mirror, Jody was speaking at Flackfest – a festival dedicated to celebrating Flack’s life – when she made the hopeful comment.

She went on: ‘Caroline would have been amazed by everyone who has helped and supported us.’

Flack’s friend Dawn O’Porter, who performed on stage, later added that she hopes there is a ‘ripple of kindness to happen after this.’

‘We have all, as a world, been through so much that hopefully we can come out the other side and not be a*****oles.’

Thousands of Flack’s friends, family and colleagues gathered together this weekend to celebrate her life with Flackstock Festival in Reading.

The likes of Ryan Clark, Dermot O’Leary, Love Island and Strictly Come Dancing stars were among those who travelled to the event, which was set up by Flack’s family.

Money raised from Flackstock will be split equally between four charities Choose Love, Mind, Samaritans and Charlie Waller Trust, all of which were special to the late TV presenter.

The Xtra Factor host’s mum Christine said she wanted to put on the event because ‘singing, dancing and most of all laughing’ where things her daughter loved to do the most.

Celebrity performers took to the stage in an effort to fundraise money for charity, with Professor Green, Fleur East and Natalie Imbruglia among those in the line-up.

Amid all the live performances, a mural of Flack’s smiling face had been painted onto a wall, with space for anyone who wanted to to leave messages.

And of course, many of them read: ‘be kind’.
