MTV VMAs 2022: Lil Nas X and Kendrick Lamar lead nominations-Rishma Dosani-Entertainment – Metro

Lil Nas X, Jack Harlow and Kendrick Lamar are leading the way at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards, landing seven nominations each.
Fresh off the back of his stunning headline performance at Glastonbury, rapper Kendrick will be battling it out for best hip-hop, best direction, best art direction, best visual effects, best choreography.
In true icon style, he will also be going up against himself in the best cinematography category, scoring two nominations for Family Ties and N95.
Meanwhile, Lil Nas X and Jack share many of their nominations thanks to their work on Industry Baby, racking up joint mentions in categories including video of the year, best collaboration and best direction.

They will be squaring off for the artist of the year award, with Bad Bunny, Drake, Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles and Lizzo also in the running.
It is also not a shabby day for Harry Styles, who has been tipped in six categories – fresh off of his first Mercury Prize nomination for Harry’s House – alongside Doja Cat.
