TV star Vicky Pattison has opened up about her past struggles with alcohol ahead of her new documentary, Vicky Pattison: My Dad, Alcohol And Me

Vicky, 34, whose career began as part of the OG line-up of Geordie Shore, found further success after a stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! back in 2015.

The star went all the way and became Queen of the Jungle, after winning the support of millions of viewers of the hit ITV show.

However, despite her career going from strength to strength in the months to follow, she has confessed to turning to alcohol after her win and has now opened up on fears at the time of ‘ending up alone’.

Vicky, who is happily engaged to former Towie star Ercan Ramadan, 28, has delved into her family’s history with the disease for a new Channel 4 documentary.

The one-off explores her dad, John Pattison’s, alcoholism, as she is now around the same age when he started to become dependent on drink.

She will discuss growing up with her father as he battled alcohol addiction, and probe whether there is any genetics that can lead to a predisposition to alcohol.

Vicky struggled after being crowned the winner by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly and shared: ‘I had everything I’d ever wanted, and I still wasn’t happy.

‘I was self-sabotaging with alcohol, and I knew I was going to lose everything I’d worked for.’

Vicky went on to explain why she knew she had to act, after reminding herself of her dad’s own issues.

She added to OK! Magazine: ‘I thought to myself, “If you don’t take control of your actions, you’re going to end up alone and like your dad,” which has always been my greatest fear.’

The Saturday Night Takeaway star has already been very open ahead of the documentary, sharing how she has been impacted by John’s alcoholism over the years.

Chatting to Sky’s Beth Rigby last week, she gave an update on her father’s battle with alcoholism, saying: ‘He’s doing well, that’s all we can hope for, every day is a challenge, he’s winning his battle at the moment.’

Beth replied: ‘That’s really good to know as the documentary is all about his relationship with alcohol, your relationship with him and his difficulties.

‘His 30-year battle trying to stop drinking and failing and succeeding at different points. The thing that comes out of it, is this fear that you have that you’re going to become your dad.’

Vicky explained her ‘slippery slope’ relationship with alcohol, part of which was shown on MTV’s reality show Geordie Shore, where Vicky starred alongside the likes of Charlotte Crosby.

‘At times, when I wasn’t in the best place – when I was abusing alcohol and depending on it I would lie awake at night wondering if this was just it- the start of that slippery slope,’ she said.

The reality star previously shared how she used alcohol to ‘quell her insecurities’ after she feared her career in the limelight would ‘go away.’

During an appearance on Lorraine in January, she said: ‘To quell the insecurity I drank, it was a scary and dark time for me. Everyone goes through certain things in life, and it makes you.
