Love Island is set to air its annual ‘baby episode’ tonight (Wednesday, July 27), which sees the islanders have to take on some very big responsibilities.

As we’re well into the final week of Love Island, it’s only right the couples are given the ultimate test, with the baby challenge providing the perfect opportunity.

Host Laura Whitmore confirmed viewers would get to see the challenge sometime this week while catching up with 2017 finalist, Chris Hughes, on Sunday night.

On show spin-off After Sun, she shared with viewers: ‘We’re about to head into the last week, it’s a big one, you know that… what’s it like to get to the last week.

‘And I can exclusively reveal that the baby challenge is back!’ she continued, before adding: ‘It’s a huge moment.’

Chris remembered the task for being ‘brutal’ but that he still has his ‘baby’, appropriately named Cash Hughes, at his parents’ house.

But will any of this year’s islanders form as strong a connection with the tots?

Here’s everything you need to know about tonight’s baby challenge.

As is the annual tradition, the episode will see each couple given a baby, aka a doll, to look after for a whole day.

They will all have to look after their babies to the best of their ability for the chance to win a prize at the end of the task.

The doll will be able to cry if it is not responded to, so the pairings have to make sure they give it as much attention as possible.

They will have to do various mini challenges which assess how well they take care of their new offspring, including taking part in a baby disco.

It’s been confirmed the Love Island baby episode will air tonight, as confirmed by the show’s official account earlier today.

First-look snaps and a clip from this evening’s episode have teased the couples in action as they try out being parents for the first time…

There isn’t long left to enjoy the islanders causing chaos around the villa, as the final is set to air next week.

The finale, which will see one couple crowned the winners, will be broadcast live on Monday, August 1.

It’ll be an extended version too, beginning at the usual time of 9pm, and ending at 10.35pm.

Laura will be on hand to host the episode, with an audience of fans allowed to enter the villa to help wrap up the series.

The bumper episode typically sees the public cast their vote on the four remaining couples, deciding their favourite romance and choosing who they want to win the £50,000 cash prize.

The winning pair can then either choose to split the money equally between them, or steal, meaning one person takes all the cash.

This hasn’t ever happened before, but there is always a first for everything…

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
