If you’re clenched between the chomping jaws of a vicious shark, it’s going to be a bite to remember.

While it’s not a place anyone would choose to dwell for any length of time, one brave, er, camera de-fin-itley got up, close and personal with the predator’s gnashers.

Scary footage from Shark Week published on Instagram shows the exact moment a camera plunged into the sea to go where no man would want to go.

Dangled inches away from an apparently hungry tiger shark, the recorder was filming underwater, capturing images of sea life in their natural habitat.

But things took an interesting turn when the creature mistook the camera for a  delicious bite to eat, engulfing the whole device.

Fortunately for shark nuts, the film carried on rolling and caught some unique images from inside one the most feared animals in the world’s mouth.

Thrashing around, deadly creature lovers could see the shark’s flapping white gums and a row of menacing teeth.

Clearly shocked, former diver Paul de Gelder and marine ecologist Johan Gustafson are heard shouting: ‘It’s taken the cam. It’s got the whole box in its mouth.’

Meanwhile, the caption for the post read: ‘We can’t… stop… staring

‘After setting up a bait box camera, Paul de Gelder (@pauldegelder) and Johan Gustafson (@dr_hammerhead) are shocked at this inside-look of the bull shark’s mouth!’

Shark Week is a week-long event dedicated to everything shark, which runs once a year on the Discovery Channel.

This time around the programming block was even bigger than before, with the actual Dwayne Johnson – aka The Rock – taking over as Master of Ceremonies.

The 50-year-old has even vowed to meet his namesake one day, sharing on social media: ‘I’d be honored to meet #TheRock🦈 one day. Thanks for the tweet 🙏🏾.’

Shark Week continues on the Discovery Channel.
