It’s a good job Love Island is only on for a few months, or we’d be glued to our screens all year.

We’re currently in the throes of the 2022 series, with it giving us everything we could have ever wanted including explosive rows, bombshells galore, shock exits and even more dumpings this close to the end as the numbers are whittled down to the final four.

And there’s sure to be even more drama to come, following the latest explosive challenge, the ever-popular baby episode and of course Meet the Parents.

This year, the show began on June 6, but when will it all come to an end? And what happens during the final episode?

Here’s all we know so far.

What date will Love Island 2022 end?

Love Island’s highly-anticipated finale will air on Monday, August 1.

In the launch episode, Laura Whitmore said that this year’s series would run for eight weeks, which bring us up to that August date.

As for what to expect, the Love Island final usually lasts longer than a standard episode. Last year’s lasted 95 minutes.

The bumper episode typically sees the public cast their vote on four remaining couples, deciding their favourite romance and choosing who they want to win the £50,000 cash prize.

Usually, the winning couple’s villa-born relationship is put to the test, as they each select one of two envelopes – one of which grants the holder the full prize fund.

They must then choose if they want to share the money with their new love, or keep it all to themselves.

Surely, the latter would be extremely awkward for contestants and viewers alike. But to date, nobody has kept all of the cash for themselves after being crowned winner. Phew.

Love Island 2022 continues tonight on ITV2 and the ITV Hub at 9pm.
