While Euphoria actress Sydney Sweeney’s star is on the rise following roles in prestige dramas like The White Lotus and The Handmaid’s Tale, that doesn’t mean the same is necessarily true for her bank balance.
Sharing concerns over her finances, the 24-year-old actress, who was nominated for two Emmy awards this year, revealed she would not have ‘the income to cover’ a six-month break.
‘I don’t have someone supporting me, I don’t have anyone I can turn to, to pay my bills or call for help,’ she added.
While she has worked solidly on premium network HBO, Sydney claimed her financial precariousness is because actors are not paid ‘like they used to’.
Sydney explained: ‘And with streamers, you no longer get residuals. The established stars still get paid, but I have to give 5 percent to my lawyer, 10 percent to my agents, 3 percent or something like that to my business manager.
‘I have to pay my publicist every month, and that’s more than my mortgage.’
In order to afford an LA lifestyle, Sydney admitted she was forced to take on work outside of acting, telling The Hollywood Reporter: ‘If I just acted, I wouldn’t be able to afford my life in LA. I take deals because I have to.’

Her side hustles have included fronting campaigns for Armani Beauty, Miu Miu and Cotton On Body activewear.
According to Celebrity Net Worth, her multiple sources of income have amounted to a net worth of $5million (£4.1million) and she owns her own home in the City of Angels.
However, Sydney said she struggled to fit in on the exclusive resort featured in The White Lotus once filming had finished and the hotel’s guests returned.

She said: ‘It became clear I did not belong [there]. I would go to breakfast in my sweatshirt and pajama shorts and get the most disgusting glares from the guests that I dared to show up like that.’
Sydney’s other money worries include being able to comfortably raise a family because she has ‘always wanted to be a young mom.’
‘I’m worried about how this industry puts stigmas on young women who have children and looks at them in a different light,’ she went on.

‘I was worried that, if I don’t work, there is no money and no support for kids I would have.’
Financial woes aside, Sydney has a busy year ahead and is set to star on the big screen in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe film, Madame Web.
She will also reprise her role as Cassie in the third season of teen drama Euphoria, although the air date has not yet been confirmed.
