Nicki Minaj has delighted her fans by dropping a surprise trailer for an upcoming documentary series about her career.
The rapper and singer, 39, dropped the teaser for the six-part series, boldly entitled Nicki, on Thursday night.
‘Coming out sooner than you think!’ she wrote on social media. ‘I took some time to perfect this very intimate, delicate, electrifying, inspiring body of work.’
The trailer features clips that show Nicki at the very beginning of her career while she says: ‘You don’t get a manual on how to be a famous rapper, you learn it as you go.’
The trailer then goes on to play one of the rapper’s most successful songs, Chun-Li, while a montage of footage of Nicki playing live in concert is shown.

Nicki also opens up on her struggles within the music industry and teases revealing personal interviews.
‘This industry is just not a loving, supportive place’, she says.
‘They pretend sometimes, but it’s just not.’
The Superbass hitmaker continues in the trailer: ‘I could medicate myself and tell myself it’s okay, but when the high comes down, you’re still [feeling low].’
The documentary, produced by Bron Studios, has not yet got a confirmed release date or a chosen streaming service upon which to debut.
‘As I decide on a home for this project, I can’t help but reflect on what I’m including in this doc,’ she told her fans.
‘Some things are so personal, it’s scary. It’s like nothing you’ve seen before and I need it to be handled with care.’

There’s also plenty of archive footage of the US star as she raps in front of a camera, meets with fans, and hangs out backstage.
As a clip of her meeting her supporters – lovingly dubbed Barbz – at a signing is shown, she says: ‘When you are just focused on the business, you can lose yourself. It was time for me to start to grow up and start loving myself.’
