Gemma Owen is likely to have an even bigger share of the limelight once she leaves the Love Island villa, having already had a taste of it being footballing legend Michael Owen’s daughter.

The 19-year-old international dressage rider has made it through to the finale, which will air on Monday, with partner Luca Bish.

She and Luca have had their fair share of ups and downs, including a massive bust-up when Gemma licked Adam Collard during the Mile High challenge – but they’ve made it down to the final five.

But while Gemma’s fledgling romance may have hit some rough patches, one constant in her life has been her family.

Gemma is the eldest of four children shared by the former England, Newcastle and Liverpool star and his wife Louise Bonsall.

Gemma’s youngest sibling is Jessica Owen, who was born in February 2010 and is now aged 12.

Much like the rest of her family, Jessica has inherited the gene for loving horses, with proud dad Michael sharing snaps of her riding on Instagram.

Posting a picture of Jessica sitting on a brown and white spotted horse, Michael wrote: ‘While the eldest is away, my youngest is progressing well on her pride and joy, Jigsaw. Well done @jess_0wen.’

Jessica seems to have a talent for all things equestrian, revealing her top scores in competitions on social media.

‘Came first today in both 70cm and 80cm,’ she wrote back in April.

Sport clearly runs through the family as Gemma’s other sister, Emily May Owen, is a keen runner at the tender age of 14.

Brimming with pride, Michael published pictures of his middle daughter after a race, affectionately calling her ‘my little speed ball.’

He wrote: ‘So so proud of my little speedball of a daughter @emily.0wen10

‘The season so far;100m u15 County Champion🥇, 60m u15 indoor North England Champion🥇, English Schools u15 100m Third🥉.’

As well as two sisters, Gemma has a brother, who is Michael’s second oldest child, called James Michael Owen.

Born on February 6, 2006, Michael is three years younger than Gemma and is aged 16.

James has Stargardt disease, a rare condition which causes degeneration of the retina in the eye. Michael publicly shared this information in 2019, saying his son was ‘clinically blind’.

In an interview with The Times, Michael said: ‘He will never be a footballer. My son’s got an eye condition. I’ve never said this. I don’t want a big headline.

‘Clinically, he’s blind. He’s got Stargardt disease, a degeneration of his retina. I used to go and watch him and b*****k him about his positioning. He can’t see the ball until it’s five yards away.

‘As much as every father wants their son to play, it is almost a relief to me.’

It appears Michael’s youngest kids inspired him to appear on The Masked Singer as Doughnuts earlier in 2022.

The dutiful dad joked on Twitter upon his elimination: ‘Finally I can apologise for burning your ears these last few weeks.

‘My kids badgered me into doing Masked Singer UK but I have to say it was a great experience and a whole lot of fun.’
