Actual Tony Hawk rocks up to East London pub to sing with Tony Hawk cover band-Louise Griffin-Entertainment – Metro

When punters headed out to enjoy an evening in East London watching a Tony Hawk cover band (yep, a real thing), they clearly weren’t expecting the man himself to rock up onstage.

The pro skateboarder and, critically, the man behind the video game Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, turned up at Signature Brew in Haggerston to support The 900 at their gig on Saturday night.

The band, who pride themselves on being the ‘UK’s first and only Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater cover band,’ rocked out to iconic songs from the games in videos from the night, joined by the man himself who looked right at home.

‘Thank you for having such a reverence for [the games],’ Tony told the crowd in one clip.

‘It’s really been my biggest honour to have these games carry on for so long. Hey, and we’re keeping it going right? I had to join the party. Enjoy!’

The band and Tony then launched into a rendition of Goldfinger’s Superman.

Fans were absolutely thrilled, with one writing: ‘So I went to see a Tony Hawk cover band in a small bar in East London and @tonyhawk showed up and sang some songs. WHAT THE ACTUAL HELL.’

‘Went to see a Tony Hawk Pro Skater cover band, and the man himself only went and turned up,’ another said.

Responding to a video on Twitter, Tony wrote: ‘Looking older all the time, feeling younger in my mind…’

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater was released for PlayStation in 1999. The series has so far spawned a total of 20 games.

The extreme sports legend, who earlier this year broke his leg, has had an incredible career.

It’s seen him win dozens of titles, spawn a series of videogames, and has also led to cameos in countless films and TV shows including Jackass The Movie and The Simpsons.

And by the looks of it, he’s not slowing down any time soon.
