Vicky Pattison held back the tears after fearing her children would be ‘broken’ after sharing her struggles with alcoholism.

In her latest Channel 4 documentary, the former Geordie Shore star explains her relationship with alcohol as well as her father John’s battle with addiction.

During Tuesday’s This Morning, Vicky, 34, revealed one of the reasons why she was hesitant to start a family was due to potential genetic alcoholism.

‘Over the years I’ve had every excuse for not having kids, it was hiding this feeling that I was going to have children that felt some way broken a little bit like me,’ she told presenters Vernon Kay and Rochelle Humes.

‘The documentary has helped me realise that there is an element of alcoholism that is hereditary or learned behaviour.

‘But there is also a huge element of it that we can control if you get to it fast enough, and you have the right resources around you.’

‘For the first time in my life I feel really hopeful in that sense,’ she added.

After being crowned Queen of the jungle on I’m A Celebrity….Get Me Out of Here! in 2015, Vicky confessed that she ‘still wasn’t happy’ and turned to alcohol.

‘I was self-sabotaging with alcohol, and I knew I was going to lose everything I’d worked for,’ she said.

She added to OK! Magazine: ‘I thought to myself, “If you don’t take control of your actions, you’re going to end up alone and like your dad,” which has always been my greatest fear.’
