Better Call Saul fans have spotted a plot hole after Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul returned to reprise his role as Jesse Pinkman.
While fans were over the moon at the highly-anticipated Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul crossover finally reaching their screens, others were a little surprised at a certain aspect of Jesse’s character.
Along with Aaron returning, Bryan Cranston also came back as Walter White – Jesse’s old high school chemistry teacher.
Aptly titled Breaking Bad, a recent episode saw the meth-cooking duo return before Better Call Saul’s sixth and final season comes to an end.
But fans had a bit of a problem with the fact that Paul is now 42, but he’s played a twenty-something-year-old Jesse.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: ‘They really should have used some type of deep fake or de-aging for Jesse because Aaron Paul looks good but we can all tell he is in his 40’s now lol.’
‘Incredibly funny watching 42 year old Aaron Paul trying to pretend to be a 24 year old Jesse Pinkman,’ another shared.
Meanwhile a third commented: ‘Incredibly funny watching 42 year old Aaron Paul trying to pretend to be a 24 year old Jesse Pinkman.’
Other fans rushed to Aaron’s defence, saying they’re ‘just happy’ that the Birds of Prey actor returned to Breaking Bad’s spin-off series.

One wrote: ‘Y’all know Aaron Paul is 42 trying to play a 20 year old, right?
Like who the f**k cares WATER WHITE & JESSE PINKMAN WERE ON MY TV TONIGHT.
‘Just be happy we got this. Damn man.’
Another responded: ‘Making me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.’
Better Call Saul follows the life of ‘criminal lawyer’ Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) before he becomes Walt and Jesse’s representative.
It tracks Saul’s (real name Jimmy McGill) downfall from hard-working-but-slightly-crooked lawyer into full-on crook, alongside several characters from the drug war that dominates the events of the parent series.

Back in 2019, Aaron had confirmed that he would jump at the chance to reprise his role as a slacker drug dealer, but he knew creator Vince Gilligan wouldn’t bring him back without it feeling totally necessary.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Aaron said: ‘If Vince asked me to jump onto [Better Call] Saul, I would do it in a heartbeat. And I would know it’s for very good reasons. So we’ll see.’

Confirming that discussions were definitely happening at that time, the actor continued: ‘Look, we talk about it all the time, we really do, and we want to do it for the right reasons. We don’t want to just throw you in a scene that doesn’t make sense.
‘Obviously, we would love to give that to the fans of Breaking Bad and the fans of Better Call Saul, but we don’t want fans to kind of scratch their head and they’re like, “Well, why did that happen?”’
Better Call Saul continues next Monday on AMC in the US, with episodes arriving the following morning on Netflix in the UK.
