Danielle Lloyd, a friend of Coleen Rooney, has shared her immediate reaction to Rebekah Vardy’s first interview since the ‘Wagatha Christie’ trial verdict, calling the televised conversation ‘cringe’.
Tonight, a chat between TalkTV’s Kate McCann and Vardy aired on the channel, where the wife of England footballer Jamie Vardy became emotional speaking about the toll the case had on her and her family.
Vardy, 40, continued to deny that she leaked ‘false stories’ about Rooney, 36, to the media, despite being publicly accused of doing so in October 2019 and in spite of her headline-grabbing loss in court.
While speaking to Jeremy Kyle on Piers Morgan Uncensored – as the presenter temporarily takes Piers Morgan’s place on the programme – Lloyd expressed sympathy for both Vardy and Rooney’s children, speculating that they might have been ‘bullied in school’ due to the recent publicity on the trial.
‘The court case never had to happen. This interview that Rebekah did tonight, didn’t have to happen. It could have all been prevented,’ she said.
The model and TV personality then admitted: ‘Honestly, there were parts of that interview that I just sat there and laughed, like it was hard to watch. It was actually quite a cringe, a little bit.’

Lloyd, 38, compared Vardy’s interview to the way Rooney has acted since the court ruling, pointing out that Rooney ‘hasn’t done an interview’.
‘Coleen hasn’t done an interview, she’s just said let’s get on with our lives, it’s over, it’s done, and just move on and be happy,’ she said.
While Rooney might not have given an interview, the coverage surrounding the so-called ‘Wagatha Christie’ trial doesn’t appear to be abating any time soon.
It was recently confirmed that Channel 4 had commissioned a TV drama all about what went down, sparking speculation that actors such as Killing Eve star Jodie Comer and The Crown’s Emerald Fennell could be considered for the main roles.
While the trial was ongoing, Lloyd – who was previously married to footballer Jamie O’Hara – revealed she was ‘rooting’ for Rooney.
Lloyd said she felt ‘heartbroken’ that her miscarriage was brought up during the proceedings, when Vardy denied that she and her former agent Caroline Watt were planning on leaking the news of Lloyd’s pregnancy loss.
In her recent TalkTV interview, Vardy cried while talking about the support she’s had from her husband, while hitting back at the claim that Rooney’s lawyers tried to settle the case out of court.
She also compared the ‘sexist’ treatment of the trial to the case of Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard, saying: ‘The whole thing was presented in such a misogynistic way.’
Piers Morgan Uncensored airs weekdays from 8pm on TalkTV.
