Jake Gyllenhaal will lead the cast in a remake of Road House for Amazon Prime.
The Oscar and Tony-nominated actor will star in a remake of the 1989 Patrick Swayze cult classic, playing a former UFC fighter who takes a job as a bouncer at a rowdy Florida Keys bar.
The cast also features the likes of Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, B.K. Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp, and Bob Menery.
Doug Liman will direct the film from a script by Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry.
‘I’m thrilled to put my own spin on the beloved Road House legacy,’ Liman shared in a statement.
‘And I can’t wait to show audiences what Jake and I are going to do with this iconic role.’

Joel Silver, who worked on the original film, is on board with the project as a producer via his company, Silver Pictures.
The film does not yet have a release date but will come to Amazon Prime in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
The original film stars Swayze as John Dalton, a bouncer who comes to restore order at a notorious bar but runs afoul of a ruthless crime boss who controls the town.

Plans for a remake with Gyllenhaal and Liman were first reported in 2021, with the project being developed by MGM.
In March 2022, Amazon closed a deal to purchase MGM for $8.5 billion (£6.97 billion).
