Jared Leto and Jamie Lee Curtis will appear in the new live-action Haunted Mansion film, and talk about a star pairing.
The film, based on the popular Disney attraction, will also star Rosario Dawson, Chase Dillon, Tiffany Haddish, LaKeith Stanfield, Danny DeVito, and Owen Wilson.
Leto is set to take on the role of the Hatbox Ghost, while Curtis will star as Madame Leota.
The film will be directed by Dear White People and Bad Hair’s Justin Simien and, according to its synopsis, will follow single mother Rebecca and her son who move to New Orleans looking for a fresh start.
It reads: ‘In this mysterious adventure, a doctor (Rosario Dawson) and her nine-year-old son (Chase Dillon), looking to start a new life, move into a strangely affordable mansion in New Orleans, only to discover that the place is much more than they bargained for.
‘Desperate for help, they contact a priest (Owen Wilson), who, in turn, enlists the aid of a widowed scientist-turned failed-paranormal expert (LaKeith Stanfield), a French Quarter psychic (Tiffany Haddish), and a crotchety historian (Danny DeVito).’

This isn’t the first time The Haunted Mansion has inspired a feature film, as this release follows in the footsteps of Eddie Murphy’s 2003 offering of the same name and Disney+’s 2021 special, The Muppets: Haunted Mansion.
The Haunted Mansion first opened in 1969 at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California.
Iterations of the mansion have since opened in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, Disneyland Park in Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland.

A description of the ride on the Disneyworld website says: ‘The disembodied voice of the Ghost Host is your private guide through the cadaverous realm of an eerie haunted estate, home to ghosts, ghouls, and supernatural surprises.
‘Glide past a casket-filled conservatory, Madame Leota’s chilling séance room, and a ghostly graveyard of singing specters as you attempt to find your way out.
‘Beware of hitchhikers – these phantom pranksters may follow you home.’
The attraction inspired two similarly-themed attractions, Phantom Manor and Mystic Manor, which exist at Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland.
